Well I'm really useless when it comes to anything car audio related so I need a bit of advice on which headunit to get next. I've currently got a Sony one that has just given up the ghost. It sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. Sometimes it won't change to the next song on a CD and all the buttons sometimes get confused so turning the volume down changes it from FM1 to FM2 etc and the other night the volume up button turned the music down and the volume down button turned the volume down until I was left with no sound lol. So I've now decided to steer clear of Sony

My boyfriend has an Alpine headunit, sub and amp and it seems good so I was going to go with Alpine. I want something that I can use with my Ipod and I have seen this headunit: http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/alpine-cde9850ri-ipod-full-speed-p-4679.html

Now the spec means nothing to me at all, I really am that useless at it all. Will this be a good system for my Ipod? I have recently been given some Fusion front speakers which are 80W I think, will these be ok together and give a nice clear, crisp sound? I don't want to spend too much money on a headunit but want the best I can get for my money. Any help would be appreciated

thats a great unit indeed

as for the wattages, they say 4 x 50 watts but thats the max, you go off RMS in car audio, so there more than likely to be like 20 watts rms if that

what front speakers do you have, do you have a link

they will work off them no problem, but as soon as you start turning it up quite loud then they will distort and sound crap, thats why there a lot better amped up

I'm really not sure what speakers I have exactly as they aren't brand new and I got them free. It could be these http://www.fusioncaraudio.com/products.php?region=2&action=view&product_id=52

They certainly look the same lol and I thought they were 80w but they could be 180w. I don't play my music extremely loud but on certain songs or albums I do like to turn it up

I've not had a chance to use them properly yet because the cd player is playing silly buggers

they will be ok on that headunit but wont get the best out of them till there amped up

amp for them would be around the 70 pound mark, and then wiring kit about 20 - 30 so say 100 pound at least if you wanted to do that

Cool, thanks for that. I might invest in an amp etc in the future.

I might get that one then. I like that you can control the Ipod through the headunit and you can just stow the Ipod away in the glove box

yeah i used to be able to do that with my headunit but decided because i had an ipod holder i didnt want that function, so snipped and earthed the bluetooth wire :p
