By doing the above does any1 have a rough idea how much weight id save? Would it be better to do this or to have carbon fibre 1s?

Also i presume i would need bonnet pins on them both to stop them from flexing?

you would be much better waiting for the carbon fibre ones or buying a fibreglass one :y:

you can cut away the inner frame of the bonnet to save weight and would certainly shave a few kgs off the total. Would be best to fasten it down thereafter with bonnet pins. (which also means that you can remove the latch mechanism for more weight saving)

If you went for a motorsport grade carbon bonnet (no gel coat and minimal reinforcing) you could have something that would weigh under 4 kgs and wouldn't cost the earth
