The air bag light coming on is a very common problem with saxo's. Its normally to do with the connectors under the seats. There is a brown connector block under both the driver's and passanger's seat, this is what is causing the problem, as over time they corrode in someway or other. I have cut mine off and connected the wires together with a wire crimping set, and have found this to be the best thing to do. As for the power steering, this is normally due to the pump on its way out, so to solve this you will need to get a new pump, or get someone to look at it

I havn't got a clue, but I know its not mega money. If you do a search for "power steering" you will find quite a few posts, some may have the costs on there. But its always worth just getting a few quotes from garages, telling them that you think your power steering pump has had it whats the cost.

I forgot to ask if you have checked your fluid levels for the power steering? As it could be that (although less likely)

Its normally just where your bonnet catch is, just as you open your bonnet to the right. Will have a black filler top with a red steering wheel icon on it saying "power steering" you can't miss it:y:

What affect does it have joining the wires together does it stop the airbags from working?

My power steering pump went a couple of months ago, it's a common problem as they are electric pumps, and unfortunately a brand new replacement is about £220 + VAT from ECP. I got mine from a scrappy for £60 because I was still at uni and couldn't afford a new one but it will prob just be a temporary solution

The red/brown liquid is the power steering fluid. Did you check there was enough in there?

Yeah I think you can do some damage to the steering rack if you drive without it for a while. I didn't want to risk it. That's why I phoned round the scrappys. Plus I couldn't drive the damn thing without the power steering, I had arms like popeye after a few days lol

Nope, by joining the two wires up directly all your doing is cutting out the frankly shite brown block that is used to join them:y:
