Right, took the vtr to the garage this morning to have a look over it as ive only had it a month and theres a crackling sound from the front. Ive been told it is the pas pump and motor, and maybe bearings in the motor are crackling/rattling. Basically he said it could go now or in a few months, so i best get it sorted now really..

..just wondering how much i can get a pas pump and motor for ? is it best to get new or second hand ? has any body else experienced this problem ?

he said its a bit premmature as its only got 40 k and its 2003.. so im pretty pissed off tbh ! wasnt expecting to spend a lot of money on it for atleast 6 months !

Thanks. :n:

Brand new you are looking at about £220 + VAT from ECP. Ring around a few scrappys and you should find one cheaper. I got mine for £60. But obviously I have no guarantee how long it will last but since I never pay for work to be done on my car if it goes I'll just buy another. Just drive it until it stops. Mine was whining a lot, then the power steering was on/off for a couple of days then it went and I replaced it. Yours may last a while yet

Yeah its just the rattling sounds as if my cars rough but its not, lol. Really annoys me on idle. Yeah thats the thing, ill have to pay to get it put in,grrr. Dont really wanna risk a scrappy jobby. Just seems odd on a 40k car.
