Right its now time i sorted out my speakers. i want my speakers to actually sound good when the volumes up, but i dont wana shell out shed loads of money, im not to sure if i want 6x9's do i have to re-wire from the backseat speakers? or is an easier option just to replace door speakers and rear speakers? whats the best thing to do. what do you have in your car?

:y: go for 6 x 9's matey, they create the sound for the whole car, if you have a tight budget then go for the infinity 6 x 9's, they are loud! if you can push your budget up then i would recommend the vibe 6 x 9's. Have you got a sub in the car? You can keep your rear back seat speakers wired up if you know how to run new set of wires to the 6 x 9's otherwise you will have to remove the pannels and take the wire's out the seat speakers and wire them up to the 6 x 9's. i have 2 x 12" Vibe Sub, Kenwood 6 x 9 's, 2 alpine back seat speakers, and 2 apline 13cm door speakers. What ever you do...AVOID MUTANT SPEAKERS!!!

Ok if you haven't got a sub, and you want quality sound, id go for vibe 6 x 9's, replace the standard car speakers with pioneer 13cm speakers...! itl sound good. Also it wont cost much either.

6x9s are simply crap with a sub in the boot
will distort like hell
the best set up imo is a set of components amped up front and a 10 or 12 sub in the boot, i guarantee it will beat the 6x9s anyday :y:

Jagztorious I hope to god you were having a joke with this person, if not then I suggest you think about what you just advised. Please do some reading up on ICE before recommending, I know this is an open forum and everyone is entitled to their own opinion but the people that come onto these forums asking for advice do generally listen and rely on others recommendations, therefore you are practically spending their money for them.
You recommend 6x9s and tell him that he will get good quality sounds from them, and you say it creates the whole sound for the car. In short no it doesn't, in fact far from it. 6x9s are 1 of the few things that damage the imaging of sound in a car. Any high frequencies should generally be played from the front of the car and allow the bass to use the rear of the car.
The only piece of advice that you gave that I do agree with is stay away from Mutant gear. I'm not meaning to have a go, but there is a sticky at the top of the board about 6x9s, and most of the community are trying to steer people away from them if they actually want a decent sounding system and you go telling a novice that they are brilliant for sound quality.
If the original poster had said help me build a show car, or I want it as loud as possible then fine, recommend 6x9s, but to recommend them for sound quality shows lack of knowledge/experience in my view and suggesting that he/she runs them alongside a sub is a clear indication that your knowledge of car audio is pretty much none existant.
For the original poster.
The best set-up in a small car such as the Saxo, or any car for that matter but especially the Saxo is a set of components up front, a sub in the boot and an amp(s). Depending on your budget their are many different bits of kit that you can buy, but the cheapest set-up I would ever recommend is below:
Component System: Boston Acoustics S50 (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/boston-acoustics-p-4389.html) £89.99
Subwoofer: JBL GT4-12 (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/1006.html) £39.99
Amplifier: JBL GTO75.4 (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/2911.html) £89.99
You can run both the sub and the component from the amp above. You can go cheaper and get a set of JBL GTO-506CE (http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/1167.html) components but for the extra £45 the Boston's are well worth it.
Hope this helps at all.

Im running Alpine subs, 6x9s and front comps, best advice is to keep the install simple and get decent wiring
No distortion at all, really good balance of voice and bass :y:
You'd see at Trax if you came bud!
Prob take it out soon for the Track session tho, not sure :S

Steer clear of Mutant and Fusion
JBL, Boston etc all good
Simple set up of a JBL 12"Sub and decent JBL amp to match the power
combine this with a decent set of either Boston or Alpine front comps and amp these up, you'll be laughing :)
Try not to get any Vibe or Loudest.com 6x9s as the magnets and baskets are too large for the doorcards and need time, effort and money spent to fit them well, not worth the hassle
Good luck

they will be distorting, trust me
disconnect the 6x9s and just have the sub running, now watch the the cones on the 6x9s, they move by there selves, magig aint it, no its the sub moving air about in the boot and if you were to turn the volume up the 6x9s would distort like hell
not only that, there the totally wrong shape for a speaker, round imo is the only shape that works

Put it this way next time your in your car turn your rear speakers right down and just listen to the fronts i can near on garuntee that you will hardly here a diffrence, i always in my cars go for a component setup in the front amped up and a 12 inch sub in the boot. you can't beat the sound quilty of decent components;)

i have sony xplode 6x9's, they came with the car.
they are good for backing up standard.
im getting amped up comps as soon as i can afford the kit.
speakers should be round! at concerts, do you see any oval speakers...its for a reason!
i dont know a lot about car audio, but im a sound tech in my spare time.

tbh i dont see the point in spending so much on a car sound system- unless music rly is your thing and u have long journeys- orunless your a MASSIVE CHAV and enjoy letting the whole world know what your listening to, with the bass shaking the street 1km away- pointless.
rant over.

got a point to a certain degree. I cant see the point in have 23482309dB's kicking out of a car or having a sub set at max so that all you can hear is your kidneys being forced out your arse.
however quality and dB's are completely different speaker parameters.
I for one prefer to listen to music in decent quality than as if it was coming from a mobile.
6x9's while i dont have a problem with them on their own, are pointless with a sub if the 6x9's are located in the parcel shelf. pressure waves from the sub will directly affect the 6x9s and as a result the quality is impeded.

As i say i have no problem with 6x9s, i happen to think they sound fairly good (without a sub) and they tend to have a fairly broad frequency range. just they arent located in the greatest of places...
