NO... Just opent the boot, move the carpet, or board, whatever you have, and you'll see a metal thing, you just undo that, and the cage releases from the car.

Edit, as for totally removing the cage, get it up on the ramps and have a look how the other side is held on.

if your just taken the spare wheel out there is just a nut that you undo, in the boot under the carpet, and on the left hand side in your boot the thing to undo it will be there

I tried to take mine off but you have to have the car high enough up for the cage to lever down to un-hinge it!!!

i was looking at doing this 2 last week. as already said, undo the bolt in the boot to lower 1 end of the cage. the opposite end is then a little more difficult. there are two prongs that extend towards the front of the car and then curve outwards towards the wheels, these are slotted through 2 holes on either side of a metal bracket. its difficult 2 explain but you'll know what i mean if u have a proper look. im not sure if the metal bracket comes off or whether you have to unclip the cage some how.

my sisters ex did it on my old 306 and it only took him bout 15mins.

hope this helps in some way.

As said lower the cage down and then remove the bolt from the right hand side rear bracket, this will then allow you to completely remove the cage. Took me about 10 mins to do

From what other people have said, i know i've already posted, but seems you may have to go to a garage to use a full car lift.

u dont need a garage, we did it on my drive way. just chock front wheels and jack back end up. should be plenty enough room.

yeah i thought is was going to be like that. when i removed the spair wheel i saw the two hinges and thought i would have to cut one, hopefully removing a bolt will solve it or i may have to get the angle grinder out :)

im taking it off as it sits a bit lower than the bumber when your about two car spaces behind. when its just been cleaned it pisses me off when you can see a dirty wheel and part of the cage!:panic:
