They're not about looking cool you big hairy whore;)

They are designed so that you can take your "show car" to a show without the risk of chipping you paint.

leeroybrown
8th August 2007, 10:26
The car in the pic is running coil overs just like me, runs the same exhaust system and filter, also has the carbon fibre spilter which i have also ordered

Only difference is the seats and wheels and the bonnet bra

So how does that make it a every day car!?

Saxy1

i dont think they look good !

Ste
8th August 2007, 10:27
i want a bonnet bra for track days, just stops your bonnet from getting covered in chips n scratches!

They are for practical use not looks, imo they look fuckin silly!

Kelly
8th August 2007, 10:28
If you do get one then you're best off getting the real deal from autobra. I wouldn't use ebay for anything like that cos its probably made out of bin bags lol

It's a bit pap imo. If it gets tatty its gunna looks rubbish and will be much harder to remove than any normal bonnet bra

What does it matter... the whole purpose of a bonnet bra is to protect the bonnet from stone chips

Sorry caught this car mixed up with someone else

It was 1.2 then a 172 engine, then a 182 manifold and decat was installed

This car is very clean, will be seeing it at the next NE clio meet in the next couple of week

Well yeah I have one and mine is for both looks and protection. I can see that they are a bit marmite and people will either like them or not but whatever they do have a use.

If it's to protect your car from stone chips whilst transporting to shows etc it's a blady good idea IMO.

In the past when I have been to shows and seen Kelly's Pug (the pink one), she had put this stuff on the front bumper, on the bonnet, in front of all the arches. If you put it on correctly you can hardly see it.

New or old bug?

If it was restored old one then all those people that laughed are idiots IMO... people spend lots of money on restorinf old VW's, so the last they want is a stone chip in it.

If your going on track, get one just for the track, then take it off.

Or long motoway journeys.

bullit
8th August 2007, 18:02
do you take them off when you go shopping or for a pint, having it sitting next to you in the pub or leave it on? does it come swimming with you when you go leisure centre or what?

Mikey
8th August 2007, 18:06
my mate had one on his golf and he said it flaps in the wind on the motorway and it scratched the fcuk out of his bonnet

Probably not fitted correctly then cos they are there to prevent damage to the bonnet

These bonnet bra's look good on the right car. I think I wuld only use one if I had a VAG tbh, they're about the only ones that can get away with it!

You cant leave them on all teh time can you? Summit to do with dirt build up underneath them???
