went to start y car this morning on the immobiliser light (orange key on left handside) was flashing and car wouldnt start. i just took my key out of the ignition, put it back in and it worked. my air bag light is now plain around flashin all the time!
whats up with it? electical fault or is the air bag and immbilser up shit creek at the same time?

I had the immobiliser light on the other day which did not allow me to start the car, all i put that down to was the key wasnt inserted properly in order to disable the immobiliser to start the car. I simply did as you did and re-inserted the key and started the engine. - Its not really a problem, and can always be resolved by re-inserting the key so i should not worry. :p

Now - airbag light, this can be fixed in a couple of ways, either by using a diagnostic tool connected to the ECU (you will find connector in passenger side underneath glove box in the fuse panel). Reset using tool as often as the light appears.

Usually the airbag light is caused by a common fault in Saxos to do with the Air Bag Seat Belt Pretensioner wiring. Underneath the driver and passenger seat there is two oranges wires that link together into a clip that is attached to the seat. When the airbag sensor detects impact and deploys the airbag, it also sends a message to the seat belt socket using those cables to tighten up the seatbelt so that you do get whiplash by smashing into the airbag when it deploys and you head forward. By tightening the seat belt it ensures that you remain up right and dont cause injury.

The common problem is that with people constantly getting in and out of the seat, moving the seat back and forward these wires become loose and frayed and sometimes disconnected, causing the fault hence causing the airbag light.

In order to fix this you can take it to a garage to re-wire and put a new clip on for £60 or so a piece (£120 for driver and passenger side) or follow these steps:

1. Disconnect battery.
2. wait 30 mins for capacitors to discharge in air bag sensor.
3. cut the clip away from two wires
4. use a connector block or solder iron to cross connect the cables directly (just like what the clip does, but this provides a stronger bond).
5. wrap with electrical tape.
6. re-connect battery.

Now the airbag light should of gone off.

let me know how it goes. :y: :mobile:

go under both front seats and unplug+re-plug in the pre tensioner sensors, this normally resets airbag warning.

i wouldnt advise soldering any part of your airbag wiring loom as the air bag system runs on resistance voltage and by soldering any part of the loom you are altering the resistance and therfore the system will not work correctly. (this is speaking from experience) if you are going to change the connectors under your setas then i would use either block connectors or bulit connectors.
