a friend of a friend is wanting to get a 4x4 because he finds he has back trouble sitting in a low position.

when i say low position i mean normal driving position so he needs something slightly taller that put the driver in a more 'sitty upright position'.

As i hate 4x4's beyond belief I'm trying to tempt him with a second hand VW Phaeton...

second hand, 3 years old with 30k miles, these things go for £20-25k (for the diesel)

opinions... can anyone suggest any better.... budget is £20-25k

E class merc or slightly older S class. COuld get away with a c class and a very good one at that price though may fit into the to low category.

Phaeton would be cool

Those phaetons are rare as hens teeth too. Think i've only seen one on the road before..

I've had a gander on autotrader... 2 pages of phaetons below £25k - Nationally lol

distance is no problem though for one of these i think for him, he likes his travelling i understand (hence the need for a suitably comfy car blah blah)

S class and E class... now thats an idea... never thought of that... cheers imaginary rep again.

dont talk to me about 4x4, one nearly ran me off the road today, he stuck his window down, and said get out of the way, ive got places to go. I personally think they should be banned, so do your best in persuading him ads

he's looking to buy in about nine months when he retires man... just looking at potential shortlists at the moment... and try to sway him away from 4x4's (as 4x4s as wank)

cheryls example sums them up a treat... i will do my best dont you worry. got money riding on it hahah

the a4 is a shit car to sit in i no a few owners/former owners they say you cant get a good drivng pos*

id recomend the vw phaeton v6 D its faster than the v8 petrol and is a beast for comfort. well worth the money

either that or a slightly older 7 series maybe a 02 or 52. full leather etc

the guy had an a6, and that was a nice car... never been in a4 although I can imagine that being too small (unless he gets an avant of course) for him.

He'd only go diesel... but the options are 3.0, 4.2 and the v10 5 litres :omg: on the phaeton. I think its the winner to be honest the depreciation is MASSIVE on them which is great :)

7 series... again hadnt really considered them.... added to the list :y:
