Alright folks.
Just got my first VTR the other day; i love it. In metallic 'wicked red', it's pretty much standard, bar the 16" TSW alloys. Oh and the air filter, which is pretty shit. Anyways, i found out that my horn isn't working. Now, i wouldn't say i'm a complete novice when it comes to cars, but i've never had anything to do with the horn wrong before, so don't laugh :homme:
So, where would i start checking?
Cheers.
John.
PS. Another quick question; i probs should have started another thread but this is a quick yes or no answer for most experienced saxo'ers; if i removed my door pins for security, would the central locking still work or not?
Cheers again :y:

Have you tried the fuse? Can't think which one it is...
and yeah, remove the door pins asap :y: It still works fine with central locking... I just pulled the pin's off with pliers, and then stuck a grommit in the hole :)

with taking pins out, sometimes after you try locking car, it locks and then unlocks, just need to have door card off and fiddle with where the pin comes from and that will sort it
and yeah fuses are down to horn just have a look where passenger seat is

Well i looked at this layout according this http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?p=875025#post875025
and according to the diagram, it's fuse 5 (30a). When i looked at my fuse 5, it's not 30a. Only 20a if i remember rightly. Could this be the reason why? I'm shit when it comes to electrics.

Yes that could be the reason why. The fuse is not powerful enough so needs to be upp'd.

I had the same problem with my old sax..the horn wasn't workin, nor was the cigarette lighter - so i though it was the fuse - but when i changed it a few times, and it still didnt work. So i left it for a month or so and changed the fuse again - and it worked! I think it just kept blowing the fuse - god knows why - but it turned out to be the fuse in the end.

Is removing the door pins a clever idea?
Cos normally when im drivin my car i lock the doors.
So if i have no door pins i cant lock my car or anything while im in it (if im in a scummy area lol)

It is a good idea mate... You use your central locking on the keyfob to do it, while driving along... I've done it plenty of times tbh...

After reading this thread the other day i decided to try again as i was have the same problem anyway i solved it last night, in the book for my car ('99 mk1 VTR) it says the fuse for the horn and cig lighter should be 20A fuse and some fool had put a 15A fuse in, on mine this fuse also controls the rear heated windscreen (this was still working with the 15A fuse). Everything now works fine! :)
Also beware there are some spare fuse holders that look like they could actually be in use (they stick out higher from the rest) this is where i think the previous owner had got confused with putting the correct amp fuses in the correct slots, and he was an electrician :(
