what Mk saxo, 1 or 2?
Swap the red and yellow wires at the back of the head unit, see the FAQs tab at the top. Try that

most probably going to be a dodgy wire somewhere, there all pretty weak on hu's, when i changed mine last i manage to break two of them :p
look for any weaknesses in the wires and correct :)

try connecting the red and yellow wires together and attach them to the yellow (constant) wire

no, if there is power but it doesn't light up, it can only be 2 things, either the headunit doesn't have the live signal from the ignition on wire, or the faceplate isn't contacting the headunit properly/the contact on the faceplate are dirty
