my mates saxo randomly dosnt start, when you turn the key it just clicks like the batterys is dead,if you push start it it starts fine,it isnt the alternator and battery is fine as is the battery connections,any1 agree that its the starter solenoid stuck?or its just fukd!

You can buy a cheap tester to check to see if the battery or alternator is at fault.

However its more likely to be the starter solonoid on the starter motor. It sounds as if the battery is supplying enough current for the starter solonoid to work as you are hearing the clicking as it attempts to force the drive pinion in the starter motor out.

I would suggest replacing the solonoid or the whole starter motor. let me know how you get on...

if the starter is sticking, and its not due to a discharged battery

you can use the old tap with a hammer trick...
not to hard just a few decent taps to the starter body should do the job.

This will work in the mean time untill the starter is changed.

like you said could be a sticky starter solenoid

or even something as simple as the battery terminals, or the battery itself :y: get a battery test done on it, should be around the 12 volts mark when not started and about 14 when its started
