Okay, bog-standard USB memory stick.. :y:
Working fine last night, went to use it today and it just will not show up at all.

Cant be found when searching, and cant be found on any pc's running both Windows and Xubuntu.. :n:

It gets weirder, the drive is working as it lights up and you get the little "safely remove drive" on windows but will not bloody show in My Computer etc.

Advice? I've tried all the simple ideas, and cant even access it to format..

Sound screwed?.. :n:

Dont think it'l be that, running fine for however long its been, then doesnt show even though nothing has been changed.

Ah well, will just get another..

If it doesn't work on another pc then I would assume its rubber ducked.

Get a new one they're only about £10 for 2GB now-a-days

Check Device Manager from the control panel to see if it shows up. Also try just typing the drive letter into the run command, ususally d: or f:. Another thing to check is computer management from admin tools in the control panel.

As said above, could also be shagged.

Cheers, have tried typing in, and have tried searching for file names that I know are on it, just going to get another one..

Its not the cost, just the annoyance of having lost some stuff.

Cheers anyway

Get a program called Data Doctor Recovery. It fins lost / deleted files on flash pens and takes files from currupted pens.

Are other usb devices working ok?

Cheers, will have a look for that. I'll need to be able to see the pens to get stuff though I'm guessing?

Yea, other things work in them, and checked all USB ports still working etc

you said to the guy you dont think its drivers as it was working fine one time and then suddenly not another.

I think most people have had a driver uninstall themselves at one time or another. I know i have, several times, in my computing experience.

Have you been to system info in system tools to see if it recognised it attached to the comp? also go to computer management in administrative tools, then disk management and see. dunno if its the same for pen drives, but my external usb hdd when i put a new hdd in there it doesnt show up in my comp and have to format it there first. Obv you havent put a new chip in there but maybe somethings buggered up and maybe able to reformat it there...
