View Full Version : Xbox Scart Socket/Leads Query

Okay guys Ive got an Xbox 360 now and im loving it. Forza is the muts nuts,
GOW, well everyone knows about that game and also just got Dead Rising which
is pretty damn cool.

My query is though, I got one of those Cooler King kits that mounts on the back
of the console. Only problem is you cant use the standard TV leads or newly brought Scart Leads with that kit as the end that usually goes into the Xbox doesnt exist on the back of the cooler king kit:

Rear of the xbox, the A/V socket which I use my new RGB scart lead in for improved picture

Rear of the Cooler King kit, but there is no A/V socket, only the gay yellow video plug which my new scart lean wont fit in obviously!!

When using the leads provided with the Cool King, they work fine but you get
that fuzzy picture rather than the nice sharp scart lead picture. I really would
prefer using the scart lead for the picture quality but it wont let me due to
the wrong sockets!

So is there any way I can use a scart lead in the back of the cooler kit?

I was looking at one of these leads but doubt it will make a difference over
the lead that was provided:

This is the sexy new Scart Lead I brought that does fit in the cooler king thing:

Im guessing the cooler kit just wont have it?

The fuzzy picture is no doubt down to a cheap cable.

I take it your not using HD. if its providing a shit picture i just wouldnt use the cooling kit. you will be fine as long as it has plenty of room to breathe.

When you run the scart cable through just the Xbox 360 its nice and sharp (nope
no HD at the moment though). But when using the gay lead thats provided with
the Cooler King thing it goes back you get the slightly edgy picture yea.

I was saying to my lil bro just f*ck the fan thing off but he dont want to lol.

Was looking at Rainbow Six the other day, looks like everyone rates it too.
Cheers for the info guys, anyone want to buy a cooler king kit? :p

iv heard alot of bad things about the cooler.

no point using it if you have warrenty and its making a shit picture. you got the 360 for the picture quality anyway.

sack it off lol, get R6 come on live and play with us.

Like Soulless said, two things:

Go and buy vegas!

And you dont really need the cooler. I find the main problem with the 360 over heating isn't so much the Xbox itself but more the power brick.

I suggest placing the power brick up high on the TV stand or desk etc. (preferably not at the back of the TV though 'cos otherwise it'll just get its air supply from the hot air off the TV)

Also run the Xbox in the Horizontal position NOT the vertical as there are breathing holes on the bottom and aids the flow of air.

People have also suggested suspending the power brick on a piece of string from the ceiling or somewhere to get it off the floor.

Are you using the xbox in HD format? Cos then you only need the audio left and right (red and white leads) and the red green and blue leads (HD)

Thanks for the info mate, much appreciated. Will take the cooling info into account.

Not using it in HD format no, Im mainly just using the scart cable I was on about
for the sharper picture on my widescreen. (so without the cooler king in):

that exact same one!

Havent got my hands on a HD yet, dont think I will for a while. Not something
I really need/can afford right now :homme:

Once you go HD you wont wanna play it on anything else it just aint the same.

Curry's were doing loadsa bargins online cos the new Samsung has come out. Thats the one i brought:

http://www.currys.co.uk/martprd/store/cur_page.jsp?BV_SessionID=@@@@1754441286.118726110 6@@@@&BV_EngineID=cceladdlkdijledcflgceggdhhmdgmj.0&page=Product&fm=11&sm=0&tm=0&sku=739566&category_oid

But go into like Dixons and PC world etc and just play them off each other saying they've offered you cheaper elsewhere.

Failing that it is cheaper to buy online, but if ur impatient like me just go in the store and just do a 'lou and andy' and say "I want that one"

There is an intercooler that allows you to continue using the AV lead...

LOL :p
Yea Live is done now, my gamertag is rushy 23 (no underscore)

Got a quick question though, Ive made progress before I joined Xbox Live on
a few games but that stuff hasn't transfered with my account. basically its a
fresh new profile and Ive lost all my acheivements.

Is there any way of transferring this stuff to the new gamertag (rushy 23)?

Sorry to hijack. But am i right in thinking that the socket on the back of the cooler king (VGA Socket) allows you to run a monitor cable and use the XB360 on and PC monitor?

Rich

nufc_lad
16th August 2007, 14:58
you need one of these cables to use your pc monitor http://shop.gameplay.co.uk/webstore/productpage.asp?productcode=XT0041&title=xbox_360_vga_hd_av_cable

Richmt11
16th August 2007, 14:58
also alot of bad reviews was mentioned here...

From play tbh one guys just says nothing special as yeah it is just a fan, thats obvious, what was he expecting a N2O cooling system? Lol.

Then the guy saying his xbox live didnt work, im sure he just had a bad port on his cooler king i mean i dont think they will have been selling this product for so long if the ethernet port doesnt work on any of the units.

I could use the extra ports, so long as the VGA works to go to my PC monitor.

Richmt11
16th August 2007, 15:01
Quick reply nufc_lad :)

Bit expensive (£14.99), ive got a spare VGA cable from an old monitor and a spare cable with left and right phonos + adaptor from 3.5mm jack to these (correct size ?) as i used to have alot of sound gear. So i can just use these cables with cooler king to go to my monitor?

rushy_23
16th August 2007, 15:04
I bet the image would be great on a monitor?
