hey peeps, i was stuck in a traffic jam for about 10-15 minutes on a hill and after about 5 minutes i started to smell a burning smell and the temp was about 3 quarter of the way up the display and the fan kicked in to cool it down, as soon as i parked up there was a strong burning smell inside the engine bay, all fluid levels are fine, could this have possibly been the clutch, i drove the car home about 1 hour after this happened and the smell had gone.
thanks for any answers.

Definately sounds like clutch burn. always use your handbake on hills, if used properly a clutch is designed to last the lifetime of the car.
clutch replacement £200.............handbrake cables replaced £30, you do the maths.

well isnt it true that if u have a high bitting point, the clutch is on its way out! and apart from that u need to give it a lot of revs to get u anyway if its gone!?

Aint 3/4 temp kinda high tho anyways?
Mine used to sit around-abouts 1/2 all the time. Got a leak in my rad & Radwelded it. Temp then sat at 3/4 with fan belting out all the time. Radiator started to leak again so got it replaced, now back to 1/2 temp max. Seems I bunged it all up with Radweld stuff.
> Your rad/cooling system sounds like it aint cutting the mustard either mate.
