Basically, put my car in for a free brake check and to check a couple of other things out.. and here's what came back...
Back Brakes - Both Adjusters have no / few teeth left, same goes for the shoes (New shoes too?! :() - Time for disc conversion when money allows!
Front Struts - Play in 1 or Both, not sure where in them the play is, But i was quoted for new shockers at £200 the pair, including top bearings, which i believe are also shot... (They checked this lot as the single clunk when nearing full lock when stationary or moving slowly has been getting worse, and doing it at slightly higher speeds etc..)
Exhaust knocking - I removed the heat shield as i was fucked off with the knocking - This pretty much cured it, though the reason is that the exhaust isn't lined up.
No problem, i'll just eventually buy a proper exhaust!..
Thats not overly as bad as i expected, as i was told most components underneath look relatively new, including the exhaust from Cat back! (Now has a VTR De-Cat, as the new engine meant the Cat is in the manifold.., Perhaps the VTR De-Cat is the reason behind the exhaust knocking...
Anyway, In respect of the struts.. If i buy Struts from here from say a reasonable mileage VT* (mine have 98k on them), will they fit straight on? and is there anything else i would need? ie Seals, Top bearings, Clips etc etc, don't want to get it apart and find i don't have everything...
AND - Does it matter what age / model car they come from? Mines a 2000 'W' Furio, so the mark 2, but early mark 2.
Thanks
David
