Xbox 360 To 360 Elite Transfer/upgrade

Pre-ordered a 360 Elite to be picked up this friday at launch.

Does anyone know on here how the whole transfer of gamertag/data goes from one to the other? Don't wanna lose my ranks or anything (taken me months to get them!).

Only getting the Elite cos my 360 keeps fucking up and telling me to put the game discs into a 360 console - IT IS A 360 CONSOLE DAMMIT!!. Wouldn't have bothered, but save selling it on ebay and getting fuck all for it, I'll trade it into GAME and let them deal with it (serves them right for dumping a shit 360 on me in the first place)

Anyway, anyone knows how to transfer everything over - that would be great.

if your getting it from game you can take your old console in and they will transfer all the data from your old console to the elite, or you can get microsoft to send you out a free transfer cable

Cool, that's the data sorted, what about my gamertag/ranks etc?

well they should transfer your xbox live profile over to your elite if not you can just recover it on your new xbox

ive also been told it could take up to an hour(depending on how much youve got saved on your HDD) to transfer the data

You can also phone Microsoft and they will send you a migration kit free of charge.

out of intrest howmuch more are u having to pay when u transfer to the elite with the xbox premium as a trade in?

Game are offering £140 off the elite when you trade in your premium. You could get well more than that on Ebay though.
