Need to go in through the car. Also need a torx25 (or 20 cant remember) screwdriver.

Take the bottom of the rear bench out and fold down the tops. Remove the parcel shelf. This bit can be tricky, you need to remove the plastic boot cover thing. 3 bolts, one in the middle and two at each side. Fiddly as funk i eneded up only removing two and using brute force. Take out thsi plastic boot cover or at least unclip the bottom, stick your hand in and you should be able to see the boot lock mechanism, use your hand to manually unlock it then hoover all teh guff out

what i did when it happened to me was to do what scott said but undid the bracket bolts, and then opened the tailgate and worked on it whilst opened, made things easier imo

was the metal rod on mine that came loose too

You can follow my guide for colour coding the boot lock in order to see how to safely dismantle the locking mechanism...

Obviously it will be slightly harder from inside the car!

Good luck!

you need to use the manual instructions above
and then adjust your popper so its rests without any slack, so as soon as its activated the popper will open your boot.
Check polarity too :)
