I'm after an amp to run two 12" Mutant Subs which I believe are 500w each, will have to check!
I also need a Headunit with 2 pre-outs and a USB port?
I don't want to break the bank though, 130 tops for a head unit :y:

USB drive, I bought the Sony Xplode CDXGT610U, it had what I need wahey!
Still looking for an Amp, I'm not sure really, I'm not sure what sort of money I'm looking at to run what I have. The Subs are 120w RMS 250w max.
No idea where I got 500 odd from lol
Does this mean I need a 2 channel amp with at least 500w?

sony are still shit but will do the job, ive had a few and both of them were crap, there lasers seem to last like a month :p
for the subs you should be looking at a 2 channel that makes 2 x 120 watts
or a 4 channel that can make 2 x 120 bridged
or 2 mono amps that make 1 x 120
what sort of money are you looking at for an amp?? cant really look for one without a figure thats all :)

Lol I don't know what is too much you see, if I had a bridged 4 channel, the sound would be alot better quality is it? 100-120 quid tops maybe?

not really mate its best if you can get a 2 channel or 2 mono amps
this would be your budget plus more but its a top class amp,
http://caraudiosecurity.com/shop/product/products_id/380.html
but in your price range go for this one
http://www.dynamicsounds.co.uk/alpine-mrpf242-channel-amplifier-p-1044.html
also you could get this one and turn the gain to about a quarter to half way, this would let you upgrade the subs to say something like a few JBL ones at 250 RMS as the ones you have now dont seem very good at 120 rms, what subs are they exactly??
heres the amp anyway
would need to be run at 2 ohms though

I see, I have two Mutant 12" Subs, I bought one ages ago and then my girlfriend bought one for my birthday. So I thought I might as well get them in, so I'm making a false floor tomorrow with a Perspex window to view the amps.
I just want an Amp to run them without any danger of blowing at maximum. Mutant subs are poor though are they?

Aw is it, hope mine are okay. Made the false floor earlier on, just looking for a suitable amp now.
I need a Monoblock Amp I'm told 400w plus to run the subs.

The JBL GTO301.1 (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/jbl-gto3011-p-4133.html) would be a good choice to run the two subs. Make sure you wire the subs up to show a 2 ohm load, like the following:
http://www.rockfordfosgate.com/rftech/woofer_wizard/2_4ohmSVC_2ohm.gif
Go easy on the gains as the amp produces a little more power than recommended (150w RMS to each sub, roughly), but don't see that as a bad thing, a bit of head room is always a good thing just turn the gains down a little and it allows the amp to produce the power needed for the subs without having to work as hard.

tbh if its the mutant with the whit cone they are rather good subs in all the tests they did in 04 05 they out performed a lot of higher priced subs that were up to 3 toimes dearer

I see thanks guys, I went to Motorworld yesterday near me and they tried selling me that amp. Quite possibly may get it today but off the net, I need a wiring kit then.
Does it matter what kit I get? I look on ebay and there are loads of different kits but obviously there must be a difference in quality right?

Thanks again guys, rep will be given

tbh mat ei wouldnt recomend any of those kits id go for a 4 gauge kit as if you add more in the future the wirring will be there something like this.

remeber wiring is important to the overall sound of a system.
