What kind of mileage are you guys getting from a VTS around town on a full tank?

Just curious to see if there is much difference between that and a VTR.

i get about 250 town driving, but when we went to germany i was getting probably around 350 constant motorway chilling

Got 320 miles on 48 liters delivering pizzas about town... what sort of milage can you get in a vtr?

I usually get around 260miles to a full tank maybe a little more if i lay off the loud pedal.

Don't get an S1 Rallye box if you want fuel economy! :panic:

I get approx 85 miles to a tenner (combined). Think that works out about 35mpg or so

Luke

They sound pretty good figures to be honest.

At the moment, I am getting around 100 miles to £20 on the Focus doing town driving. A full tank around town of £50 gets me 277 miles so VTS will be much better.

When I had the VTR, I was getting about 170 miles to £20 so nothing major difference.

i get bout 100 miles to a tenner give or take a few miles round town

davevts
24th August 2007, 15:52
i would have expected a bigger difference between vtr-vts from what people are mentioning.

seeing as citroen hammered the vtr with performance disabling features and fuel economy helpers e.g manifold and gearbox.

Luke

That sounds good Matt.

Much of a difference between the two?

i get 280 to a tank usually 250 town driving with de cat.

tenner lasts 5 mins as said, big difference between vts nd vtr, my vtr town/motorway used to see 400 to a tank or 360ish raking it round country tracks.........

A few mixed comments now.

I know Mike gets 355 miles mixed driving, but he has had that System 4 installed. What kind of mileage do you get Matt out of a full tank? I'm presuming you never put your phone down..

nah never put phone down always on it when driving, but whats that got to do with mpg?

ive had 350 from mixed driving

since petrol gauge hasnt worked i put a tenner in and do 100 miles then fill up, each time that ive ran out ive been within 5 miles off petrol station, well the one yday i could see petrol station

Someone help...

VTS Owners what do you get out of the following...

£10

£20

£30

Full Tank...

Just so I can see difference between VTR and Focus 2.0.

robp

This is what you can expect depending on your driving style:

£10 - 50 to 90
£20 - 100 to 180 Miles
£30 - 150 to 270 Miles
£40 - 200 to 360 Miles

I reckon if you're super careful and do 56mph everywhere then you can squeeze nearly 400 miles out of a brimmed tank, although I've never achieved it myself.

If I get over 300 miles out of 1 full tank I feel like announcing it in the local paper tbh!

It's worth it though for the performance...I reckon most other vts owners will agree with me.

Luke

How many do you usually get from a tank then around town?

Maxwell
28th August 2007, 22:18
i had a mk1 vtr this time last year and i used 2 stick £25 a week just going to work! 15 miles away...so 30 mile round trip - 5 times = 150 miles a week.

and now i have my vts, doing the same round trip, although 4 branch and system, and skimmed ported polished head etc etc etc...also fuel prices going up and im breaking even (or saving about £5 a week when im not running late...therefore dont need to go hard to get to work on time lol)

a vts being 16 valve, give economy over the vtr as well as the performance as well!

Luke
28th August 2007, 22:23
Well according to the Saxo brochure earlier, that's what it said too.

Maxwell
28th August 2007, 22:25
yeah luke, thats why 99% of petrol engines in production cars, after the early 90s have became multi valve....because they are better for fueling and emmissions!

Luke
28th August 2007, 22:27
Cheers mate.

Rep given.

28th August 2007, 22:29
Luke, I get about 200-230 miles out of a tank round town, although I try not to think about it too much otherwise it detracts from the enjoyment of the car!

Put it this way - I've had diesels in the past which offer 500-600 miles from a tank but they're so dull to drive on the whole! Also my 2nd car is a Clio 1.2 16v which isn't too bad to drive and usually I get 400-450 miles for the same money but it doesn't put a smile on my face as much as the VTS does!

If fuel economy is a concern then how about a Saxo 1.5D?...actually I wouldn't wish that on my worst enemy - I used to have one as my company car!

Luke
28th August 2007, 22:31
I presume that is flooring it a lot though?

I know people who can get 300+ miles around town.

robp
28th August 2007, 22:46
Yeah there's a bit of traffic light grand prix going on there I suppose...

As you might be aware there's quite a lot of badly driven porsche boxsters etc... in Leeds and Bradford and it's a nice feeling beating them away from the lights!

I'm supposed to be grown up and sensible now I'm 25!

When the fuel light comes on you generally have 1 gallon remaining, so about 20-35 miles depending on how you drive!

Payney
29th August 2007, 12:59
The answer to your question then... Not a massive difference to a VTR.

I’m sure I’ve read somewhere its 8 liters when the light comes on? In the Haynes maybe? If so its more like 1 ¾ gallons left…

even when the light does come on I just turn the ignition off and on to try and get the light it off… anyone else do this or is it just me? lol

I do the same thing - depending on how steep the slope is that you park on!

You could be right on the 8 litres thing - different cars have different fuel light activation levels, generally on most cars it's between 1 and 2 gallons - although personally I wouldn't risk doing anymore than 30 miles with the fuel light on tbh.

i filled my vts up couple days ago and as i am always up and down the M4,i manage to get a bout 350 miles outta that, but as for the town thing i cant really say, but at a guess i can put a tenner in her and i can get bout 118 miles. but thats staying below 4000rpm and not takin on them whipper snappers with there 106's and some other wanna be racers in there 1.1's an 1.4's with big bore pipes on,them boys need some direction on styling, lol
but in my opinion the vts is good on fuel, but not when your flying around everywhere
