This is quite simply the best educational DVD on engine building that I have ever seen. Do not be fooled by the title "Basic Engine Building", "basic" here means essentially replacing parts with new or refurbished ones rather than the "Advanced Engine Building" series which focuses on choosing and uprating parts for performance.

When looking at Saxos and after doing a few bits and pieces around the engine bay, including changing the clutch, there seems to be a few area that are prone to corrosion. I'd guess water gets in through the radiator grille and starts the attack on four common items:

1) Clean the gearbox cases and mount and paint them if you desire. Using a flat knife blade and a solvent cleaner, such a brake cleaner, clean all of the gearbox case mating surfaces of old sealant gasket.

Drain the gearbox of transmission fluid. Watch for any metal chunks that may be washed out of the gearbox. See the first 10 steps of Simo’s “Draining/Filling the Saxo Gearbox Oil”
Remove the gearbox.
Be organised:
a. Take digital pictures to remind you how parts looked before disassembly
b. Make written notes as you go
