Josh, my S1 box would top out at 130mph @ 7800rpm with 195/50/15 r888's. You'll be fine with an XSi box! ;)

What cams you going for next year mate? What power you running at with the 708's?

jpsaxo 17th September 2009 14:19

When i had it mapped @ GMC there rollers quoted 141 @ the wheels, however i'd say thats generous, when I organised a big RR day at Northampton motorsport it was running a few extra bhp @ the wheels compared to the other cammed cars (without TBs), however TB's will mainly make the mid range much better, and in general make it much better to drive on the road & track.

I'll be running the same engine set up next year, nothing will be changing, im really happy with the engine as it currently stands mate :)

Looks like a shot straight out of Gran Turismo! :)

raunchz 11th October 2009 18:34

Ring picture looks amazing!!

How many laps of the ring have you done now? Looks like an epic place to go for a car nut, focusing on taking mine there next year after uni!! Taking it on the ring looks a daunting thing, can imagine id spend my time just letting everyone through! Just got to sort a few bits first.

jpsaxo 12th October 2009 12:42

Its a very scary place to go at first, i broke my track virginity on the ring, and was pretty shocking to begin with as expected i guess! Main problem is because unless your doing under 10min laps everything will just keep flying past and you feel like your just getting out of everyones way constantly

But once your below 10mins you'll be keeping up with 'most' things round there & over taking others when your down to 9mins or under

I've done about 30 laps now over the past 3 years, and really enjoy it now i know the track reasonably well :D

Heres the other professional pic I got...

raunchz 12th October 2009 13:27

^ ^ Mental picture with the biker in it too!!

Do you pick up the speed/corners/braking points of the 'ring' fairly quickly? What sort of times you going round the ring? The most daunting part for me really, thinking about going ot the ring is the braking points, and the costs involved with coming off (not really worried about the car, just the barriers/coolant/oil leak etc.)

Toad 12th October 2009 16:54

Glad you chose to get that last pic done mate, it's definitely my fav! :)

On the majority of corners there is a white mark on the "turn in" point, tbh from what i've read you need around 50 laps to know the track reasonably well....and another 50 laps to be doing some decent times! Its just far too long to learn it at once, by about 10 laps you'll know the first 3mins, 20 laps second 3mins, 30 laps third 3mins of the lap. Then a further 20 laps to string the whole lap together. Theres also ALOT of blind crests and turn in is often before the blind crest.

Its not going to be the most challenging track in the world without being hard ;)

Im doing it in around 9mins flat bridge to gantry. I'll hopefully have a full lap video coming from my mate soon, according to form it was a 9:04 BTG.

Dave - I knew you'd like that picture :D
