Lol, i know what you mean about leather, but if i keep it stripped, i will make sure it looks special and very clean :)

Took the misses out for a spin tonight, just to see what she reckoned and she prefers it stripped :S

16v may be on the cards anyway dude. R lump has recently rolled over 90k.

CHIP 13th October 2009 23:36

Right folks. The Sax is going to stay stripped i reckon. The plan is basically fixed buckets, paint inside, harnesses, lots of flock, lots of carbon. But it's going to take a while due to money... although i've just had a pay rise so that's going to help abit :)

Some pics for now:

LEE_VTR1 13th October 2009 23:44

Haha, i know dude. I'll get on it. The carpet on the arches seems to be glued? So i'm going to make sure i've got plenty of time to do it right as i want to be able to put everything back if i ever need/want to. The rear plastics, i need to get the cage out to remove them, so again, more effort than a quick job. Shall all be done though dude :y:

Always look on the bright side haha. Tbf dude, it does seperate them a little lol. If you hadn't got morrette's (or i had) we could play mind games with people :P

CHIP 22nd October 2009 15:56

Right folks. I've been off work since yesterday, partially due to me wanting to get some stuff done to the Sax and partially due to the fact i went to see Enter Shikari last night, was mint i tell thee. But anyway, yesterday i went to the scrap yard and picked up some 106 door bins and door handle surrounds. A bargain at £5. These will be fitted once i get my fibreglass door cards which my mate makes.

Today's progress:

Basically today, i wanted to get the rear stripped properly. First up i had to get the cage out and the rear door panels off..

This revealed lots of wiring, so i decided it needed tidying up...

Then i wanted the arch carpet off, but it left lots of horrid glue which looked messy as...

Pipe cleaner is my friend...

The result of afew hours :)

And then i gave her a wash... and it started to start spitting with rain lol

CHIP 22nd October 2009 16:10

Next up i need to paint the inside's, get the fibre glass door cards and some bucket seats. Shall all be done soon hopefully :)

SaxoIOW 22nd October 2009 16:30

stunning as usual! Will be much better when you have the buckets installed :y:

Cheers dude. It's abit strange having my car stripped out at the minute. I like it, but it's taking some getting used to. Keep going outside and looking at it lol.

Cheers mate.

Who thinks Pro Race 1.2's in black would look good? I know they're a common wheel, but i like them.

EDIT: Also took the sound deadening off the rear arches this morning... but i aint going to post pics up of that lol. Just imagine bare metal haha

kyle_d 23rd October 2009 17:54

Well, it's definetly lighter lol. It's raised the back a little and has made the stance spunk-worthy dude. Just got to see how money goes for buckets and harness'. Hopefully get them in the next month or two. Hope the S is suiting you well :y:

J222JRA 23rd October 2009 18:07

looks good Chip, will be really good once you have the inside sprayed up.

Going to see the people who are hopefully doing my re-trim tomorrow hopefully

James

That sounds good dude :y: Who's doing it? Or pm me if you prefer. I'd really like leather. But strangely stripping it out happens to be more practical and the added bonus is it's abit cheaper. Once it's all flocked etc it should look awesome too :)

Liam-westcoast 23rd October 2009 18:10

looks amazingly clean mate

Yea dude. It's weird after nearly 3 years of having interior in it lol.

Cheers dude. 60mm GMax springs at the front, 90mm at the rear :) Taking the extra weight out has really improved the stance imo. Loving it!! But, because it's raised the back the front has gone down a little.... the splitter catches like mad lol. But it's rubber and it bends so all good haha.

I'll let you know if i do decide to get rid of the cage, but tbh i dont think it will be any time soon. If it went it would have to be replaced by a proper cage, as when i took it out i hated the look of the car. Just looked so plain.

VTRacer 23rd October 2009 21:45

haha nice im thinking of a laguna splitter just dont want it to catch on speed bumps :S

yeah if u do sell give me a pm ill most prob have it off u

and btw one of my fave cars on here love it mate :y:

Cheers dude  lol

Like i said, Laguna splitters are rubber so they bend easy. So long as you put it on properly (two self tappers and 5 or 6 custom steel spacers with bolts, in my case) then it wont come off. I think my bumper would come off before the splitter lol.

VTRacer 23rd October 2009 21:53

haha fair play might look at gettin one i think :D

what cage u thinking off gettin if u do get one :D

CHIP 23rd October 2009 21:57

No idea yet dude. Havent even looked tbh. The main things i want to do are:

1. Get the fibreglass door panels off my mate and fit them with my 106 door pockets
2. Get some buckets and harness'
3. Paint inside
4. Uprated shocks
5. VTS lump?

This all depends on money though. The VTS lump will more than likely have to wait a year :(

J222JRA 23rd October 2009 22:24

plans are sounding good chip, uprated shocks especially with it being that low

Everyone always said to get uprated shocks at that height dude. But the shocks that were on the car when i bought it lasted 2 and half years at that height before they died. Not bad imo. But they will be upgraded next year :)

J222JRA 23rd October 2009 22:31

To be honest mate mine was the same, it had gmax -60 springs on standard dampers for 6 years. But i must say uprating the dampers made a big difference......why your at it fit poly bushes etc etc

Considering them too. My mate has them fitted to his GTI and seems very impressed :y:

J222JRA 23rd October 2009 22:33

yeah man all these little things imo add up

CHIP 26th October 2009 23:35

Well! What a fucking balls up haha. I am lame as.

Basically, got my fibreglass door cards. Went to fit them yesterday and as i origianlly thought i needed 106 door handles not just the surrounds. That's balls up number 1.

Balls up number 2! Fitted them today now that i have the handles and i must have had some sort of brain fook up and cut the wires for my tweeters (wasnt taking crossovers out incase i decided to fit them somewhere else) and just taped the ends up. But, this means my tunes sound shit now... never thought about altering the wiring lol.

Balls up number 3! Need some 106 door lock pin surrounds too. Being a right arse to lock it without them lol. So that will be yet another trip to the scrapyard. Had 4 trips already in the last few days.

I'll get some pictures up when i sort myself out haha. Too dark now. I blame my cold :D

AlexB 26th October 2009 23:44

depin your doors and no trim needed dude its what i did ;)

CHIP 27th October 2009 22:52

Right then... pics of the fibreglass doorcards and 106 door bins fitted. I've put the doorcards on with double sided tape, thinking it would look neat... but it isnt holding it on very well. Keeps nearly coming off. Not happy. So probably end up fixing them on better tomorrow... but anyway, this is how they look:

VTRacer 27th October 2009 22:55
