Don't strip in my opinion. No need to ruin a minter of a white VTS....

And they're noisy as hell with no interior, hear every annoying rattle/squeek but extra loud! Cams & remap and leave well alone I think personally.

My old car, Brembo 4pots, cams, stripped = very twitchy rear. So much so when I outbraked a CTR, rear bounced out and ended up going round a corner on a 90 degree angle. Looked good, but boy did I shit meself! Safe to say the next day I had an interior again... Lol

adam2350 18th April 2010 18:26

The rear doesn't go too light if it's on a setup like mine or yours Stevo, 70-80mm maybe, but I have nothing behind my front seats and it handles like a dream- and I could tell the performance change with the weight loss.
Did I see you still had the spare tyre in? Get rid! If you can save 50kg on a car that weighs 935kg it's like gaining 8bhp assuming your hp is around 135bhp- well worth it IMO if you don't use the rear seats etc...

webby 18th April 2010 19:00

leave the interior alone imo, i have thought lots about ripping it out but it turns the car into niether one thing or another.

seats out, sure thing it wieghs abit less but tbh how much do saxo rear seats weigh? not alot. any you said replace with a cage which min is 19kg from an omp one. so defeats the object of that.

the only way to do it is properly go the whole hog with it but then you are in essence destroying a very nice car and to strip one properly and go lightweight cost money.

it will be a very quick car with the cams ect in see how you like it with them in first, if you still want it to be quicker change the 'box then strip it.

oh yeah thanks for letting me know about c/w

moxy89 18th April 2010 19:17

Might just strip it out for track days mate but not all of the time.

Cams are now fitted!!! :p Hears some pics and that.

Left my camera at work so the valeters thought they would take the piss lolz

Hears some pics of the old cams in

Then they are out

Then the Newmans are in

Then the timing belt fitted, apparentley it had the timing belt replaced already which is suprising as I bought it with 42000 miles on.

So its all up and running now and it feels so quick throught the revs and it just needs remapping.

Also bought a nissans radiater to try and improve cooling

stormjojo1982 22nd April 2010 23:09

this thread just gets better each time i look, whats the tipp-ex for?

stevosvts 22nd April 2010 23:18

Thanks mate the tipp-ex was just to help get the timming for the cams spot on, they still might need some adjustment yet though.

Liam_ 22nd April 2010 23:29

Cheers, ye chipwizards mate they seem to have a really good rep and they are near to me as well

tay56 22nd April 2010 23:37

Cams will be awesome! Bet it has a really bouncy idle unmapped.
Id keep the interior if I were you, sooo much road noise and lots of other little noises when it's bare metal especially if you use it everyday.

Idle is not as bad as I though but it does need a remap and the timing spot on. We should get some pics of mine and yours togethere at uni black Vs white lolz

Hears some pics of the car after a big clean before Bolton Abbey :p

And a couple of pics of it at Bolton Abbey

3cott 25th April 2010 20:12

Your car looked lush today :A:

stevosvts 26th April 2010 09:25

Cheers mate it was just a shame about the weather

stevosvts 1st May 2010 18:30

Ok so the car is now booked in for the remap on Wednesday at Chipwizards so today I started getting the car ready. Cooling is the main thing so I fitted an extra fan and my nissens rad.

Hears the new radiater compared to the old lol

twin fans which I got sprayed white

Then I thought I might as well give it a full service so it was new spark plugs

Then I changed the oil and filter

and replaced the fuel filter
