Just a quick question as you have had an engine conversion also.
When the fuel gets to the orange light do you find the car will not rev past 4k? Mine has also cut out on a roundabout when low on fuel also. |
don't run it low!? :P

You cant run my car under 1/4 round mallory due to fuel surge coming out of gerrards lol
Heres the link or the track day lads http://www.focusedevents.com/car_event_info.asp?ID=136 I'd say it will be a great track to learn on, not too long so easy to remember the corners and plenty of run off and a nice variety of slow and fast corners. You will need to book it soon though because there is only 9 spaces left now ;) |
get some snaps up of my hard labour matey!
|
ahem remember our deal you do it I will get a lcfc shirt with beckham on the back ;)

Onto 2011...
Im back in the UK for roughly the next 6 months so im going to get cracking with tidying up the saxo so its properly protected to last for at least the next couple of years as ill be away in Oz from August/Sept this year until 2013 at least, and only coming back for the odd ring trip. Anyway started off with a few bits and bobs today. First up was to turn the engine over (as its been sat over the winter), check the plugs, then crank the engine over without the spark plugs in to get oil around the engine until the oil pressure light goes out. ![]() Spark plugs looking good, so engine is still running well :D ![]() Kms back on as its kept inside over the winter in the warm and dry ![]() Battery back on ![]() New centre console; Before (with holes) ![]() After; without holes (and gave the interior a good clean/hoover) ![]() Mirror caps needed re-doing; before ![]() After ![]() Also drivers side carbon door card was coming off; so a bit of "no nails" and some brown tape to hold it until it dries should have sorted that ![]() And finally at the end of last year I had the rear arches sorted as they were showing signs of rust (common problem for most saxos/106s, but the carpet & tar normally hides it) ![]() ![]() This will be properly sprayed when we spray the whole interior & cage after my track day @ cadwell on the 4th of April. Thats it for now, ill be cracking on over the next few weeks checking and changing things where needed and will try and keep this thread up to date :D |
good stuff, glad to see your back and safe. get that mango mint(er) :)
|
Excellent JP mate :)
|
cheers guys, next up is to carry on with the bits and bobs, and going to check the alternator belt/pullies & the cambelt next weekend as long as the weathers half decent :)
|
good stuff! i have to say, it's allright for some...f*cking off to Oz full time and flying back as and when for Ring trips...
the other half, eh :P |
Welcome back to the UK mate :) Time to get your hands dirty again
|
welcome home matey good stuff on getting the car back up and going now get to some shows!
|
Out of all the performance cars on here this is my favourite!!
Silly bits like keeping the carpet in the front make it my kind of style lol. Keep up the good work, hope to see this car at some point. |
Must be a good feeling coming back after time and getting back in it again ;)
Still as good as ever! |
Nice one Josh, you must be over the moon you can spend more money on her ha :)
What do you do for a living if you dont mind me asking? to say you wont see the car for two years is along time! What track days have you got booked for this year? Cadwell and Ring? |

Carpet is definitely staying, although this is mainly a track car i do take it out to meets or days out if the weather is good, so keeping the carpet for the sake of 0.1 seconds is well worth it imo. And im sure you will see it at some point, i loved going around to all the meets a few years back so ill definitely be going to as many as possible while im back :D Quote:

I work in sales for a company called Telstra in Oz (basically same as BT), selling phones, internet, foxtel (sky) etc. Its good money but bloody hard work, I can work over 55hours most weeks... including saturdays. Currently got the ring and cadwell, but have a credit with a company for my cancelled mallory track day (due to snow) at the end of last year lol, so will be doing either mallory as its literally 5mins from my house, or maybe snetterton 300 new track looks pretty good. WOuldnt mind doing brands or oulton park as well. |
I hope to be doing the new snetterton in may :) looks good and only 25 mins max from me so is my local track.
|
I see fair enough mate, must be pretty nice to live and work over there i guess? How comes you changed your mind on the boot lid?
What date is this cadwell track day? I wonder if its fully booked, odds are that it is! It really pisses me off i have no decent tracks around me that are decent enough for my cars spec. Hmmm |
looks alright i guess ;)
|
Tufty - Boot lid ill keep and do my own thing with it, just requires some work as i want to keep it oe looking so hopefully Bic can put a number plate recess into it if it doesnt sell. We will see...
Cadwell wasnt fully booked last time i checked, think its gone up 10quid now though to £165. Yeah oz is good mate, just miss friends, family and the mango from over here. Anyway the mangos currently in lots of parts, i got digging at the weekend and the bay needs some treatment so gonna get cracking with that. Took a few brackets off and gave them a lick of paint, as well as the new larger servo (gti/vts one) & the 23mm MC will go on at the same time. Also took the alternator belt off tonight and thats nicely brittle and cracked all the way round so ill grab a new one of those tomorrow. Few pics just to keep it updated... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Going to try and get the bay all cleaned up lob loads of "krust" on it during this week and then wack it all back together at the weekend :D |
bring on the weekend!!
|
Svens army :D
|
Managed to get the servo painted and back on this afternoon (what a bastard!),
Also got the alternator bracket off, cleaned up the pullies (as they were a bit rusty due to it sitting for long periods) and the main pully at the bottom of the engine to check it was all good. Next is to put the 23mm MC on and bleed up the brakes, make sure everythings working, and then tidy up the bay and put it all back together. Should be done by Sunday :D |
Love this car
