Depends how things go with my visa and how things go work wise once im back out in oz tbh (if i get the visa). Either full rebuild with over 200+ bhp NA, or lob a new sandy head with 734 cams in onto my bottom end and aim for 190/195bhp NA

Lol, I'm not joking, I've just come inside 11:30pm, from finishing working on the car!

Perfect Tom, gives me a perfect excuse to take my time at spraying the interior and cutting the dash etc and any other bits and bobs I can do before fitting the carpet :) drop me a message on weds to remind me :)

mark1311 21st April 2011 23:57

looks sweet mate, having a bash at the sraying your self then? what spray gun have you got? also a little thing might be worth as your props doing it on the drive? add some rocket to the clear coat speeds up dry time

Okie dokie cheers for the tip mate, should dry pretty quick as it's going to be mid 20's here tomorrow :)

Car is pretty much ready for spraying tomorrow...

And all sanded down as well...

mark1311 22nd April 2011 20:56

well more the touch dry time, so even with it been 20c.. and tbh minimum u shud spray in is 23c and then bake it at 65c... its pretty chill as far as painting go's lol. get some pics up once its done though.... one other thing might help you, if u have an old car rad fan stick it on a battery charger and place it near the car and shud suck all the misty shit away stop u choking.

miamibluebaby 22nd April 2011 23:49

Latest pics, taken me all day to mask off the cage, roof, doors, windows and front of the car, what a bitch!

Thanks buddy, it's taken me about 5 days and 50hours of work to get to this stage, about 15 of those were removing the bloody rear seat brackets!

i need to crack on and remove mine, is it just a case of drilling the spot welds??

got some nice carbon covers once there out :)

Yeah you can do it that way but I'm a fussy bugger, so drilled most of it then carefully grinded the rest off. Then once the brackets were off filled in the holes with a touch of weld and flatted it off, its not the neatest job I've ever done but it's certainly much better than having holes everywhere :)

Berg 24th April 2011 13:07

Bet that took a while to get ready for paint lol

Might have missed it somewhere in the thread but what colour is the cage going to be?

J222JRA 24th April 2011 17:21

Get it painted whilst the weather is good......

jpsaxo 25th April 2011 21:57

We did our best for a "on-the-front-drive" jobbie lads, there's a couple of runs and a couple of bits where it's reacted but it's the best we could have done so I'm happy with it :)

Mark - yeah swap you for your set up mate haha

Tufty - no chance am I doing another one, you wouldn't believe the amount of hours of prep work that have gone into this lol

Mark & Tom - yeah cage is going gloss black, I'm thinking once my new dash is cut I'll send it to get flocked, what do you reckon? As at cadwell I was getting some glare off the dash!

haha, very true, preparation is mad! If you are getting glare then i really would get the dash flocked, not overly priced and will be a good addition!

mark1311 25th April 2011 22:32

yer the prep works a pain in arse, insides especiali as its not straight or mooth anywhere, da's good with a form pad to push in abit more, also mini 3" da's are good also the foam backed sand papers good. looks good though mate

crisppug 25th April 2011 23:49

grate to see another job done right :)

people dont seem o realise how long it all takes - i think if we actually knew how much time and money "moddifying" would take we would not do it,but hay ive met some awsom mates and lots of fun and experience comes with it all imo :)

super job

Jay_ 26th April 2011 00:29
