Heat under the car is much lower than before i removed the shields now
and im still re-sealing and painting the underside before FCS anyways
so i cant see any problems dude.

The 2 offending metal shields from the manifold flange to back of the centre pipe have been removed and the fuel tank cover left on here ;)
I almost never carry a full tank and the last bit of pipe is being heat-wrapped soon also so there's nothing to worry about tbh.

My fuel lines are actually checked so they wont pop off and piss fuel all over the road mate ;)

Also mulling over the idea of getting the tank modified but thats gonna be revealed soon.

i hope you're right! lol

i dont want to be getting a hot arse[/QUOTE]

Just dont stain my seats when we're on track and you'll be fine mate haha!

Ask AlexR - he did the same and learnt from it ;)

At least my car runs *cough* ;)

Love you really lol.
Need to sort out the Valeo next sat if you're around man.

Bloody Fluff...

Bet he had his shirt over his head while he fitted them.
He tried to fit mine and i ended up doing most of it and then double-checked everything he'd done after just to be sure lol.

Good to know everythings all sorted now for ya mate :y:

Noticed any difference?
The pedal was slightly harder on mine and the brakes slightly more responsive.

Skorpion 3rd June 2008 19:02

Be good to see that grille on the car once its done. Looks good atm though!

Made some awesome buys and will have to have a look at fcs! Then again probably only see your new exhaust as you overtake me on track!

Ta Skorpion - its been to long without a grille tbh...

Trying to loose the shed approach and sort the exterior out a bit before FCS to a half-decent standard :p

Grille has been fully painted and given around 4 or 5 decent coats of lacquer.
Removed the rest of the top bumper of yesterday to test-fit everything and get everything in place.

Measured the grille to the upper bumper (original grille mounts were fooked to be fair lol) so i had to use some filler and bondant to make decent new mounts up so the whole thing stays in place.

Been left to dry and harden for the last 24-odd hours just as a precaution!

Quick polish up and a wipe then i'll re-fit the finished jobby back onto the car in a bit :)

Adam_Q 3rd June 2008 20:15

Get it on now fella! I'd started mine before you and I finished yesterday lol!

Viper 3rd June 2008 20:24

yeah, insurance is all cool. covered for the whole of the EU for no extra :A: :D :y:

going to be immense!

Canny wait haha!

RedB 4th June 2008 00:01

Right end of excuses.

The grille is finished and pictures speak louder than words.
I'll add some anyway...

Added a couple of top coats to make the flake pop more and add depth as the last few coats seemed a bit thin to me...

Left to dry for 24 hours-ish and then added a few decent layers of lacquer to add shine, gloss and protection to the finish...

Layed the grille on top of the upper-bumper section to get an idea of how much i needed to fill and bond to make the custom mounts strong enough to hold and keep the grille in place...

After leaving the filler and bonding mixture for another 24 hours :ponder:
I re-measured up the backing mesh...

Fitting the grille...
(Whoring skills havnt been up to much recently as you can see lol)

I'll get some before + after's of all three versions of grille's that have been on my car the last few months so you can see how much better this looks.

Glad its finished and fitted after 2 weeks of work.
Couldn't be arsed to mess the finish up and have to re-do anything so i
took time and got it pretty much spot-on with just rattle cans and some patience :D :p

Payney 4th June 2008 00:38

grantlowery 4th June 2008 00:51

Looks awesome mate. really like how the grille blends in

Viper 4th June 2008 01:56

om nom nom nom nom

that looks great!!

is it just shadows, or is the spike of the top chevron hidden under the grille?

adamsax 4th June 2008 05:17

I must say the grill isn't my cup of tea at all.

Fair play for being different though mate, we all know how hard that is with saxo's nowadays.

:y:

Well my progress thread has been updated with pics so have a browse fella :)

I'll give you a buzz when i'm back home fella! Did you get some walkie talkies for the convoy?

RedB 8th June 2008 19:23

Just got back from the Renault World Series at Silverstone and im creamed so im gonna pop up the progress from yesterday...

Frodo front pads are on, hopefully you all know what a brake pads looks like so i wont bother with pics lol. Bedding them in slowly for use at Rockingham in a couple of weeks ;)

Out with the old in with the new...yesterday i ditched the shitty, broken and completely fooked rad.

No rad :fcuk:

Comparison of old vs new to show how shit the old radiator was...

New Alu Valeo radiator with 82 thermostat (helps to keep the engine run slightly cooler :))

State of the old scrap after me and Alex gave it the 'can i stand on it' test, dropped it a couple of times, stamped on it and dropped a hammer on it a few times lol...

Bled the whole system and re-filled it.
Takes 7 litres in total to top-up a VTS radiator!

Downsides....i need a new passengers driveshaft and the car is filthier that a slag's keg's but it gives me a chance to clean up the whole underside next weekend, re-seal and re-paint and mess around with the interior before FCS.

More next week and FCS prep progress :)

RedB 9th June 2008 22:15

If anyone has a passenger's side VTS driveshaft up for grabs then lemme know ASAP please.

Cheers
Red :y:
