The blue dials look awesome... but I'm left with a big "what if..."
I have some soldering experience, but are the contacts of the smd's near any critical parts of the pcb? Since using scrap yard dials from another mk2 will ruin the mileage, I don't want to be left with a half working dash when I f*ck up a contact.
I agree jhonnyg_vts, one extra reason to visit the forums... ;)

Related to Dash rings: http://www.saxperience.com/forum/showthread.php?t=94507
I finally found a store which is willing to supply not only the tacho and speedo rings, but also the surrounds for the coolant, fuel and oil gauges as well. The only problem is, they need the exact measurements of those dials.
Since some of you are taking your dials out for soldering, can you please measure up those dials in mm; radius, depth, size etc. (if possible with photo)? Or are there any detailed drawings of the dial layout (with measures), I've already looked all over the net but couldn't find anything.

the whole unit ie motor or just the needles themselves?? just use 2 spoons either side and lever them up applying the same pressure on each of them, they will come off, you think there going to break but should be ok, mine have been off about 10 times no problems

TU-Tuning 14th August 2007 21:29

pull it up a little bit with long nose pliers, then grab in with you finger and thumb and gently pull.

and pred, the rev meter motors for the needle, they keep going all mental

Predator_R32 14th August 2007 21:34

yeah some needle nose pliers should get them off, dont worry about damaging the middle bit you dont see them anyway

ben make sure the needles are pushed in properly and check the wires and plug are all ok
