Anything under 800kg would be nice, as with 200bhp that would give me 250bhp per ton :y:

Need to get a bonnet done somewhere next :D

hard_corejoeboy 5th June 2011 19:16

I think with all that carbon you may have to wrap the bumpstrips as the black looks a lil out of place now.

That would be nice!!!!!!! :fcuk:

When you say get it done somewhere, does that mean you didn't just buy the boot? Did you get a mould n stuff done of it?!

Simon0014 5th June 2011 21:16

I was gutted you didn't make it today, really looking forward to seeing it!!! What colour and shape xsi were you driving round the track?

It was the s1 blue one with the black roof with black wheels, I only drove it in the morning (until the open pit finished @ 1:15) and according to form it was on 3 wheels through the first chicane every time haha!

I was gutted as well mate, whats even more annoying is its the first time ive been in the UK in june for 3 years, and it could be 2013 until im next in the UK for fcs :n:

Jay - haha, nah I got the boot from bic @ streamline carbon, but no where makes the mark 1 saxo bonnet in CF so need to find somewhere or sort a group buy to make it worthwile to make the mould!

Joe - I know what you mean mate lol

unreal106 5th June 2011 21:57

haha i might have to, really enjoyed myself today tbh!

Yeah mango would have gone well around there considering it has another 60bhp and a better suspension set up compared to my brother xsi, it still goes pretty well for a 1.4 though doesnt it :D

Tom - Damn right, we were just clinging to it for a while then we started catching it i couldnt believe it haha

crisppug 5th June 2011 23:30

josh i felt for you today i realy did,its crap when they break man

on the other hand was amazed how the xsi 1.4 went round.....yes the 20 min i went out we passed like 2 clios and almost kept up with another.

your driving is in pressive :) i need lessons kidda

Yeah it's annoying when they break down but at least it didn't happen in Germany mate. And I still got to rape sam's xsi round track for a few hours so I enjoyed it, and glad you enjoyed the passenger ride mate :)

hard_corejoeboy 6th June 2011 17:50

You guys are so lucky you and alexb. Somehow you've all managed to get your cars to the sort of level and power i've always wanted and its very annoying!

I will own a saxo/106 variant that will pants down rape the big boys in the next 5 years!

By that time you should all have your cars to about 1000bhp lol

piggy123 6th June 2011 21:42

my car proved yesterday at FCS you dont need a powerful car to keep up and even pass the big boys..... anyone who passengered with me or josh will tell you driver abiltity is half the battle won.......

i think a cammed VTS with good brakes and suspension with a good driver would be as quick if not quicker than anything i saw out there all day..... except for colin and deans turbo saxo's they were insane!!!

unreal106 6th June 2011 22:11

sam now we are talking your car felt so strong yesterday!

LEE_VTR1 6th June 2011 22:11

I vouch for sams comment (one above mine) everyone slates the 8v lumps but I didn't see many 16v's pull away yesterday unless bodied or cammed!

driver ability is half the battle won for sure. if you can drive and have a bigger power car then fair play tbh!

hard_corejoeboy 6th June 2011 22:12

Hence my possible future play with a stock hatch spec saxo/106.

:D

LEE_VTR1 6th June 2011 22:15

pretty much what I based my suspension setup on haha! fucking flies

hard_corejoeboy 6th June 2011 22:17

What suspension as a general rule do they run? I know the regs but don't know the rough specs of their cars. PM me if you can mate as jp may get an ass on lol

jpsaxo 6th June 2011 23:11

Chat away lads its cool....

Agree with Sam, even though bigger powered stuff pulled away down the straights i pulled most of that back in the infield anyway

And yeah, no point in having shit loads of power, if you cant make the most of it then your much better spending your money on driver tuition than on more and more shizzle for the car :)

dannygti 6th June 2011 23:30

its really frustraiting when you see an awesome car driven by a tit... you see a lot of it on trackdays (especially car shows). as sams car shows.
even josh said at his last trackday hardly anything passed him.. imagine how quick these cars can be with a good driver and an awesome car lol.. hopefully josh can prove this even more so soon :)

kevin_172 6th June 2011 23:40

jp you slut! im thinking of swapping cars.. letting you work on the clio and when your done swaping back! FOC OFC! :D looks awsome as always and all that CF!! mmmmmm

Yup I totally agree with you Danny - great post mate! Hopefully I can prove it even more in the future just need some more power next :D

kev - good to see you around bud and thanks for the nice comment...

Quick update, would seem I started to destroy 3rd gear at cadwell which then got progressively worse at donny.... Ah well... It should be all good for a rebuild as Tom (unreal) is kindly donating a 3rd gear and I'll replace the non-sealed bearings as the amount of metal running around inside the box was crazy - no wonder it was slow engaging gears!

Gearbox casing (luckily no damage to the diff)

And 3rd gear you can see has been completely stripped(inner ring, closest to the camera is supposed to have gears like the outer, larger one)...

J222JRA 9th June 2011 08:06

Wowww thats some damage to the teeth on 3rd......quite an achievement that lol.

Good to meet you on sunday Josh.

AndySAXO 9th June 2011 08:33

Really wanted to see your car at Fcs, :( but have to wait til Germany now :)

Shame about tom's car he would of shown a few lads up around there.

You know me, all or nothing haha. Good to meet you as well James, even if it was only brief lol

Andy - you've already seen it when you collected your box while I was in Oz? Anyway was a shame, good to meet you in person anyway, ring is gonna be awesome :D

AndySAXO 9th June 2011 13:40

I hated stripping the MA gearbox down, all be it i had help doing it, but it was a right pain! Cannot believe the mess inside that box though. chocolate boxes!

rushy_23 10th June 2011 11:06

Bit of bad news on the box Josh, but I guess its to be expected. How many miles has it covered since it was last put together?

Progress is great as always. Are you still planing things for the engine? I remember hearing a few rumours..

Liam_ 10th June 2011 23:41

Love the attention to detail, definitely one of the best cars on this site. Need to have a proper look at it next time our paths cross. :)

Box doesn't look too healthy, especially considering you had the crown wheel and pinion swapped fairly recently too? Damn things must be made of cheese.

Yeah it's annoying but ah well, it prob broke due to me giving it a hammering round track so far this year lol

Only thing that was changed last time the box was open was the FD Rushy, box has covered about 30k in it's entire lifetime, And done about 8k since it's complete rebuild, when I say complete it even had a brand new gearset fitted and has extra strengthened parts on it as standard. In all the boxes we've referbed we've never seen a box like mine with all the extras lol

As I said to Rushy (above) the only thing that was changed last time the box was apart from the FD, so all the other parts of the box have done 4 ring trips and approx 15+ track days so I'm suprised it's lasted this long tbh.

The great thing is the synceos and all the parts that "normally" wear are in great condition, but obviously at cadwell or Donnington I've rammed it in 3rd, broke or cracked a tooth and then it just gets worse and worse from then onwards, that tooths broke up making the oil dirty not allowing the syncros to do there job properly meaning it's slow into gear which then made me crunch it a few more times trying to get it in gear before a corner which has broken a few more teeth off 3rd making the box even slower into gear etc etc

Thanks for the comments btw lads :)

Lewisimo 14th June 2011 13:47

Epic dude, didn't klnow you'd gone for a carbon roof and lid! sweeeeeeeeet.

Well with any luck I'll be back in Oz from September so I thought I'd make the most of my time in the uk by abusing some tracks :D

rushy_23 21st June 2011 23:44

Looks like the box served its purpose. And now rebuilt and re-ready to go.

Mk2 rears mate, will look more fresh.
