Hi. Not it will not affect the mot... The only thing that could affect the mot is if doing this made it difficult to read dials or the milage.. But with saxo dials u wont affect either soo ur safe....

y-saxo-vtr 8th August 2012 20:31

thanks again bunty99 :) gonna give it a go now , probs finish tomorrow .

bunty99 9th August 2012 00:33

I this yesterday but only got the wiring but finshed as i converted from mk 1 to mk2 today. ANd when i turn my lights on. The millage lights up blue and the blue led for my water temp lights up but none of the others. I have checked they are defo conected.

Does any 1 no if they have to go in a certain direction or anything like this.

Im puzzled...

Yes they must be the correct way round. They are diodes.

as i have changed all mine and i dont know which ones are ment to be which way..

jeffchiz 15th August 2012 22:27

i did my dials and the smd has a notch in the corner of it and you match it up with the original led thats how you know which way round it goes

jeffchiz 15th August 2012 22:43

well guessing your only option is to get another set of dials and see unless someone on here is willing to split there dials apart and tell you..

bunty99 15th August 2012 23:06

Was hopin sum just had a pic of there dials while they were apart. And i can figure out the rest my self

jeffchiz 15th August 2012 23:58

Powering it whilst soldering could damage the board.. Dont want to risk damaging it as milage is very close to orginal so want to use these dials

huh?

Power up, see non-working smled, remove power, desolder, turn round, resolder, power up, test. Move to next smled...

I could do that way but as they run in series of 3 and i dont know which one of the 3 is making them not work and there is 3/4 sets of 3 in series it will leterally take 4-5 hours to try all the combinations :banghead:

Thats y i was hoping sum 1 had a pic just to help me save time

jeffchiz 16th August 2012 18:48

That is true also one of mine had a dodgy connection which turned other leds off

Still, try the three leds each way wouldn't take too long, once one set is working the other sets should be the same or easy to work out

bunty99 16th August 2012 19:15

Guna have a stab at it tonight while at work.. But not holding my hopes up...

Just tryied powering the up on table here with a battery and couldnt get the one that works in the car to come on soo guna do it when i can go bk and forward to car lol..

rhysg 20th August 2012 17:19

best guide thanks

Is there anyway of accessing the dials without removing the steering wheel? As removing the airbag torx screws was a bitch, got 1 out but rounded 1 off.

Or is this the only way?

Cheers

y-saxo-vtr 21st August 2012 22:51

Can undo the 2 13mm bolts that hold the steering rack in , once this is done steering wheel can be moved down leaving room for you to get to the screws of the clocks ! This is how I did mine without removing the steering wheel :)

CrouchyM 24th August 2012 19:38

I also did the above, loosened the 3 13MM steering column bolts. Was piss easy to get them out. Ive done them all but ive only got a 1/3 of them working.

Any advice?

Youve not solderd one of them correctly i imagine so the circuit isnt complete. Check over all the connections of the broken ones, more than likely the first one that isnt lighting up.

CrouchyM 24th August 2012 20:51

It's the rev counter lights and half the speedo.

rich112 24th August 2012 21:01

I had same problem crouchy just had left hand side lit up :/

bunty99 24th August 2012 21:39

i have been struggling with problem for over a week. with 2 sets of dash clocks and i can only get 1/3 working on both... :(

realy struggling cos i cant figire out y they arnt working.. im sure they solderd on right.. and the right way.... soooo i want to cry :banghead:

Ive got the petrol gage and the oil temp working, just not the rev counter, petrol gage and half the speedo. The milage is working.

What works looks sick but its annoying. I wish it all worked.

II_IFAN_II 10th September 2012 01:05

I just did this.... had a bit of hassle with half the rev counter not working but a multimeter and some trial and error got them all working nicely :) good guide and a simple cool mod to do

DanoSaxoVT 18th November 2012 23:54

You hero! Am doing this :)

logic_guy 24th November 2012 15:12

I've just done this. Its bolocks.

I've only got half the speedo and half the rev counter working along with the temp gauge and warning lights. The petrol gauge isn't having a bar and the rev counter has stopped working :/.

New clocks :/

Yet loads of people have done it and it works. Not really bollocks is it?
