you could always go for the Spl woofers for £39.99 (without the crosovers or tweeters) and add a nice amp for £63.49

i feel this would be ideal for dnb lots of bass + it would be much easier to fit as they are a streight fit (13cm's) no drilling or worrying about where to place the tweeters.

amp
woofer's

thats £105ish in total.

one thing tho i dont think anyone has brough up, you will need an amp wiring kit which will set you back £20 :(

good luck and all the best.

id love to have a sound system without high freqs... :| NOT

you do realise all your hear is bass lines, and mid bass sounds? nothing else

depends what you consider a "nice" set up

the JBL comps and alpine amp comes to under £100.. and it is an amazing set up on a budget

although for me personally, a "nice" set up is in the region of £300 or more..

depends how much of an audio freak you are. to a true audiophile it would be well in to the 4 figures range for a decent set up

and its a 2 channel amp

you kow what ash i personaly think your right he should go for the Jbl's because the fact of the matter is he had a budget. why have a budget and be tempted with other stuff, i wish i could have got better comps than my SPL's but my budget said no! and you know what im happy now :)

build some door pods for 17cm speakers and buy some slightly cheaper comps like the yellow coned Pioneers, will sound alot better than some 13cm Alpines!

Agree with Alpine amps for speakers though the clarity is amazing for the price band!
