Filter to use is a fram ph5796. iirc, it's a renault part by default as posted above (5 turbo, 11 turbo etc).

But if you plan to run a oil cooler (highly recommended with a turbo setup) then just add in a remote filter housing and use a regular filter. But that adds some cost of course.

Im doing a turbo conversion on my mk1 vts, but one thing that i was wondering is, does the standard rad/fan stay or have people replaced it with a different rad/fan?

manc 20th April 2011 08:59

Replace the OE fan with: -

& use these 'through' rad fan fittings :y:

Hope that helps.

Depends on the setup. If you're using a manifold that has the turbo located quite far forward (DP Engineering etc) then you'll need to relocate the rad forward of the slam panel and because of that, you can't use the standard rad as the header tank thats built in gets in the way. The cheapest solution is to use a 106 diesel rad and a seperate header tank. If you do that, you'll need to use a slimline fan (as shown above).

There's been turbo setups done using the standard rad and fan, but generally the manifold doesn't impede the fan because the manifold has been bodged in the first place. ;)
