All the nuts etc etc were done on my last service and it was still there when I drove it out the garage matt. Think I've exhausted all possibilities now, if you'll excuse the punn :D

Bakes_vtr 25th June 2006 11:14

i would say its a wheel bearing!

Subtle 26th June 2006 14:54

If it is a wheel bearing, how much would that cost to fix?

Saxo_Wilson 26th June 2006 18:08

can you damage the wheel bearing as a result of lowereing a saxo?

Lofty86 26th June 2006 18:32

Yeah you can... If the car is lowered then it changes the angle of the drive shaft, usually at the bearing, so that sounds like a good idea to change the bearing. If you have bigger than 16" alloy's then you will find the bearings are under alot more strain than they where made for. Hope that helped.

Lofty86 26th June 2006 18:34

O... bearings shouldnt cost much. If you go to quick fit, you could blag it for £40 or £50, thats with labor and parts. Lofty

The squeak started less then 3 weeks after i go the car lowered. Could the bearing go that fast? My car only has 12,000 miles on it i would of thought the bearing would of lasted longer then that TBH. plus I have the standard wheels on. You never no tho. cheers for the help.

i have the same problem mine was fine until i had it lowered its getting worse the noise starting to piss me off .

Delboy75 26th June 2006 20:57

Right my sax is bleeding squeeking too!!
Although i'm pretty sure it's coming from the clutch.
It Only creaks & squeeks when im pulling off or driving really slow and does seem worse when i'm bringing the clutch up in the low gears
It's really really annoying though and everyone stares!
Someone said it could be the clutch release bearing?
I Really wish i knew more about car mechanics, i can see me getting shafted by my local garage as they seem to know when you've not got a fucking clue what they are explaining!.

I love my car but this noise makes me want to beat it to death with a hammer :o(

Ax_beefy 26th June 2006 21:24

I had a squeak from the front wheels after lowering my car but it was because the brake disc retaining bolt wasn't screwed in properly, and the disc was wobbling pushing the calliper about

Subtle 30th June 2006 10:54

Looks like it's a trip to quick fit sometime this week then, see if the bearings need replacing.

Saxo_Wilson 5th July 2006 10:33

Got my squeak fixed today. It was the power steering pump.

DJDannyB 12th March 2009 11:02

Mines doing this.. what part of the pump was broke?
