Absolutely LOVE how it sits :A:

Must mention, massive thanks to Willsy and LEE_VTR1 for doing it all for me

Really glad that you're pleased with the results mate :y: have to say for a P reg its in really good condition, we got a fairly smooth ride working with it :)

Yeah mate, group N rears too. Haven't really driven it much since i've had them on, it's pretty harsh ride tbh, just feels so solid atm. I'll have to take it for a run through the lanes at some stage haha.

Yeah sure mate, you can have it for like £5 if you want lol. It doesn't have any chevrons i think, not sure if they're still around, but it's in good condition, just been in the shed for the last year lol.

adamsax 6th April 2009 02:44

Yeah it sits spot on :y:

MR_N 6th April 2009 08:21

love the car mate, would be good to keep it a mildly tuned vtr engine with good suspension to use as a daily. Like me lol. Then have a track toy. (106 XSi for me). Id much rather my car handle well and solid than have mega bhp that i couldnt really use on the road. Keep it up mate very nice car

paxo89 6th April 2009 20:51

Cheers mate, ideally i want to get a VTS conversion, but atm insurance is an issue, so it looks like the earliest that will be happening is July when my renewal comes around. In the meantime i want to get the suspension and brakes as good as they can be, ready for when the engine goes in :y:

paxo89 9th October 2009 18:03

Recent Updates

Not sure where i'm going with this car atm, although it is starting to be a bit of a money pit.

This is where she lives now,

Few interior changes,

Saved the best til last, ;)

Bought the engine for £380, paid £450 to have it fitted, which included all new fluids, new clutch, new cam belt, new water pump and tensioners, oil filter and i had to get a plate welded in underneath as the jacking point was rotten. Had it for just over a month now and hardly driven it really, it is very fun to drive though i must say (even with the vtr box still on)

She was off the road all last week because 2 injectors packed up, which cost me another £250, also the gearbox is leaking oil from the driveshaft seal, but i've lost my locking wheel nut key so can't change it :n: So for now i'm topping it up every now and again until i get this S1 box off AlexR, but don't know how long thats going to be yet!

Near Future plans,
s1 Gearbox
Cage,
4 pot brakes,
Few suspension bits like thicker rear arb, uprated bushes etc,
Another seat lol,
Possibly manifold/cams/standalone ecu, but i don't want to spend money on performance stuff untl i know where i'm going with the car .

And eventually more power (charged or N/A, haven't decided yet), but that's a long way off yet.

Tufty 9th October 2009 18:11

Im in this car most of the time as i pranged mine (60 into a lamp post) lovely motor, seriously quick for a standard engine....eats and competes most things up :homme:

I wanna see a cage and another bucket seat in there!!

paxo89 13th October 2009 15:06

Just ordered a Piper 4-1 mani from Kam :)

paxo89 17th October 2009 01:32

Manifold arrived today, decided i want to heat-wrap it before i put it on though;

One thing i'm not sure about though, the hole for the lambda sensor is just before the centre section would start, and on the alternator side.
Now my current lambda sensor is on the gearbox side, right up the top, and the wire is at full stretch, how am i going to get it to plug in much lower down? :geek:

haha couldn't resist going 16v :P

my dad's mate did the conversion, had to drive down to pembrokeshire in wales for it though, but i got to help out and learnt a fair bit doin it. Don't worry about the filter, it's off a rover i think, it was literally put on to get me home from wales. I bought a vts airbox off sparco tom a few weeks ago, but an't fit it yet because my vtr fan is in the way. Won one on ebay today though so should sort that out soon ;)

paxo89 27th December 2009 17:58

Thought i'd post a quick little update,

;)

Undecided whether to paint it or not, kinda like it grey tbh :)

Also got a few goodies on the way from ybracing and hopefully an s1 gearbox from alexr!!

raunchz 27th December 2009 18:29

Woo someone commented :panic:

Yeah it's really light lol, obviously isn't going to make a massive difference to performance but it's something i've wanted for a while.
Got the piper wrapped and on aswell, had it on for a month or so now :P
Also back on black vtr wheels atm, not sure what i'm going to do wheel-wise though as i want to get a big brake upgrade :(

4pots are a great upgrade !!!

I'm wanting a fiberglass bonnet eventually, so was just wandering whether it was a lot lighter !!

I've got a piper too so our cars are pretty similar !!

haha think i may need bodies in my life at some stage :( wana get all suspension/brakes/cage etc sorted before i go for more power. :p

Out of interest, you don't know the bore of the piper mani do you? I'm assuming it's 2" ?
:geek:

Yeh i think it's 2".

you going to paint the bonnet ? I think it looks quite good in grey:y:

what sort of plans you got for brakes and suspension?

Undecided tbh, was going to do it matt black, but kind of like it in grey, plus the rest of the bodywork is kind of tatty so thought it would look a bit odd with a mint silver bonnet lol.
I'm on group n billies atm, ideally i'd like to get some stiffer springs and a few niggly things like a thicker rear arb/torsion bars + stiffer bushes etc, and brakes i'm looking at the 285mm willwood midilites, but i really want to keep the car looking like a vtr on the outside, but obviously 285mm discs + 14" wheels don't go :(

Wayne 27th December 2009 19:47

Looks nice bud:y: what omp seat is that? can't really see it clearly in the picture, also what omp steering wheel do you have? by the way your harnesess should be crossed not straight, thats how most people do harnesses, like the fibre glass bonnet:) looks awesome for a MK1 saxo bud:y:

Tufty 27th December 2009 20:00

This car doesn’t get the appreciation it deserves on this forum!!
I really like the way you do things properly and use common sense before speed!!
Not long until you get to that final stage now high comps/charged/N-A???
Decisions decisions

I know im going for an N/A screaming beast!!

Really like the bonnet in the flesh though!! Money well spent!!

peter_10sax 27th December 2009 21:43

blackie_2k5 27th December 2009 22:50

I normally see the harnesses crossed bud, as it's supposed to be safer and better at holding you in, thanks bud, going to order a wheel eventually from there:)

Sorry mate, never noticed your post!
Yeah it does have a frame, but nothing to mount the catch to so you have to tilt the bonnet all the way back for it to stay up, little bit annoying if it's windy while you're working!:n:
I hate mine now, wish i never got pins for it, it's an exact match for a standard bonnet so i wanna get another one, and get it silver to match, nice and subtle :A:
