looks well tidy, i like it!

whats the 1.8 like on petrol?

Connor_scotland 19th September 2008 10:57

They are pretty good mate
My 1.8 sri 130 vectra was waaaaaaay more heavier on fuel commpared to my focus

rey 19th September 2008 11:02

hrmm, more for me to think about!

Andy_K 19th September 2008 18:40

LOL I was going to say that they aren't that great. I only get about 320 miles to a tankful. And it costs £60 to fill it. Not sure how big the tank is. My 2.0 litre Volvo estate cost £65 to fill and did 400 to a tank which I still though was a bit poor.

wallsy 19th September 2008 19:04

Looks nice that mate, good to see you got sax-p stickers on it aswel. ;)

Andy_K 19th September 2008 19:40

Lol yeah. Can't really be assed with ffoc ones. this forums much better lol

Really need to update this with new pics again soon

Andy_K 21st September 2008 21:04

Thought I'd put a couple of photo's of the finished install up.

Spec
Pioneer DEH-P80MP CD headunit
MTX TXC6.1 6.5" companants in front doors with tweeters in custom made pods buil into mirror backs.
Pioneer 6x8" rear speakers (run off headunit)
JL Audio 12W2 12" subwoofer in sealed box
JL Audio e1200 Mono amp (running subwoofer)
JL Audio 2 channel amp (unsure of model number) running front speakers

Future Plans
1) Change headunit for a Kenwood DVD Touchscreen
2) Put a spacer ring on the sub box to space the sub out and create a larger internal volume
3) Install a BassCube

Andy_K 21st September 2008 21:13

Also went out for a little photoshoot whilst the car was clean and the weather dry. Have now changed the headlights for smoked ones. These were done in the same way as the Saxo MK2 ones, with the lamp unit taken apart and the inners painted. Also changed the indicator lenses from amber to clear. Took AGES!!!!! lol

Andy_K 21st September 2008 21:17

Comments welcome.

Future plans

Not too much really. Just keeping it subtle
1) smoked side repeaters
2) Focus RS mudflaps
3) Paint and fit a Reiger front bumper which is currently sat in my garage
4) Colourcode side and rear rub strips

Dboyvts 21st September 2008 21:20

looks nice and clean fancy coming to clean my saxo???

Andy_K 21st September 2008 21:22

lol. Not after the time it took to do this one mate. Really can never be arsed getting them really clean. Once a year only lol

joemcevoy 21st September 2008 21:39

alright mate? nice car. My girlfriend just picked a magnum gray one up last week. What did you do with the original boot carpet??

Andy_K 21st September 2008 21:43

Cheers mate.
Took the original carpet out and replaced it.

shooorn94 30th September 2008 00:11

absolutely love the subtleness of this focus mate, looks really good and loving everything about it. Haven't really been keen on focus' but this may change my mind. Wheels suit it down to the ground, and the smoked headlights suit the front end massively. Keep it up :y:

kyle_0790 30th September 2008 00:28

i love that car and the ICE system.. but not a fan of the wheels:p

braziers 30th September 2008 00:30

looking good mate... not a fan of the spoiler though
but each to theyre own :y:

Thank you very much  As its a daily drive, i want it kept subtle, so I'm glad that's what people think of it. I was the same when I saw it - never really liked focus's before but loved the look of this one. Also I had heard that they are a good drive.

Couldn't agree more tbh :clapping: Loads of nobs on there who think its cool to have chrome and stickers and lexus ligts all over the car lol. I mean, come on, most of them are in their 40's, or so it seems. I have also been scammed twice since being on there. I also hate how you have to pay to join before you can even look at any of the threads :wall:

Pics of the coilovers need as sonn as tehy are fitted tbh! How low you going?

Andy_K 4th October 2008 17:56

Not so much of an update, but fitted new disks and pads today.

Had noticed a loss in braking performance over the last couple of weeks, so ordered new drilled and grooved disks and mintex pads after seeing that the old stuff was pretty worn.

The old stuff off

The pads were well past it - nearly down to the metal!!! And the front face of the disk had worn down, but the rear was well and truely f**ked!

New stuff went straight on.

Looks much better now, and although they need wearing in, the braking feels much better. Bargain i'd say for £55 delivered :y:

DusheR 17th November 2008 20:41

focus' ftw. nice everyday driver

bargin! where did you get them from?

Also did you get the variable speed wiper stalk working?

What are the new wiper blades like, thinking about getting them for my focus.

Brakes need changing too.

Andy_K 17th November 2008 21:23

ebay mate - there is a shop that sells them for all different cars. Can have driller, grooved or drilled and grooved for the same price, all with Mintex pads. The quality isn't fantastic, but they aren't bad for the price.

The wipers are ok, but the fitment isn't fantastic. The retaining clips keep coming loose, and so far I haven't noticed any improvement in the overall performance over a decent pair of standard wipers. Look better than standard though, which is all that matters :y:

Wiper switch didn't work. Apparently the wiring loom is different on the MP3 models which means that the speed asjuster doesnt work. Switch is currently on ebay :P

Andy_K 18th November 2008 22:56

Ordered myself some smoked side repeaters. Will get pics when they arrive and are fitted.

Ben 18th November 2008 23:07

I was gonna get a focus, looks sooo much better with the smoked lights, really like this car. The brakes are a bargain! Want to see more lol

Adam_Q 19th November 2008 07:32

Looking good dude! think you should smoke the fogs next :)

Cheers fellas!

May get a new pic or 2 at the weekend when I fit my new side repeaters, although nothing else has changed on the car since the last photo's, other than its no longer clean and shiny - quite the opposite in fact. God love winter driving :p

Not going to bother smoking the fogs as I have a new front bumper to fit which takes different fog lamps. Just need it painting first.

Prickle 19th November 2008 13:08

very smart focus :) just read the whole thread

Andy_K 19th November 2008 13:21

cheers matey

Andy_K 20th November 2008 20:18

Well, my "smoked" side repeaters turned up today. Only problem is that they are more clear than smoked, and won't look any different to the ones that are already on :n:

I didn't pay much for them, so can't be arsed sending them back. Think i'll just go to our local accesory shop and buy some proper ones on Saturday morning. Will cost more, but at least they'll be right :homme:

rey 20th November 2008 20:22

i want a focus now! grrr

Pressed thanks instead of quote lmao, anyway, can't you just get some tinting spray on the side repeaters instead of buyin some more?

Andy_K 20th November 2008 20:24

Sorry

Obviously saxo's are much better :p

lol, thanks anyway.
Tinting spray probably isnt much cheaper. Plus I think they look better when they are properly tinted. The spray dries funny sometimes, like it has on my back lights

Ben 20th November 2008 20:29

Ahh yeah i didn't think about the cost of the tinting spray! They will look smart anyway :y:

Theres plenty of potential in them. Only downside will be the tax after next year. Unless you get a derv.

scotty1990saxo 20th November 2008 21:18

tidy car mate

Andy_K 20th November 2008 21:30

Cheers fella
