not understanding where people are getting 113mph from a standard 1.1 tho tbh, even citroen state its 102.. (down a hill maybe)

plus the 1.1 would never get to 113 on track since it would take about a year so where did you get this figure

what the clock shows is not the true speed also

my old standerd 1.1 did 108mph

LOL... Did make me chuckle!

Tontsy 5th February 2009 15:43

in all respect, its not all about "top end" what do you use more, top end or ur 0-60.
your in town, stop at lights, pull off... yes ur obviously going to use your top end :s, unles its a matiz then yeah :D

i have a problem when SSW go on cruises, i get left behind cuz everyone starts to start hittin tonne 20 in their cars and im left at pushin 90 tbh, but around town im the only one whos taking that bend at 40 and leaving them behind in the lanes.

and if its all about top end, my XJR 1300 with a "few minor" adjustments sits off the clock at 180! and im only 18, cant name another mate with whatever car at my age that can do that kind of shit!

Said like a true pro. To be fair 1.1's are made for the tesco run not 115mph.

The only thing you can do is track slag it really. make it as light as possible. no point in spending money on the engine because your only ever going to see very little gains. however, striping the inside is free and you will get the same increase in performance.

Craigxr2i 8th February 2009 16:41

Right i used to think gettting that type of speed out of a 1.1 was a load of crap but i got the limiter in 5th, might you i was going down a hill i would say it was probably like 117 mph but thats like the max it would ever go!!!

whereabouts did you do 117mph?

titchster 8th February 2009 17:42

As long as its warm, and well serviced you should be fine taking it up to the limiter every now and again, after all, its there to stop the engine over-reving.

Love it when someone says 'how fast is your car?', in what respect? Top speed? Dunno, never done it. Acceleration? Quick enough, but not quick enough at the same time. Corners? Never quick enough.

if it was then we would be doing about 8mph standing still according to the dials, but it sits on 0 on my car at least, even had my road angel on and there just about right, it also has a lot to do with tyre size etc

No they are out a lot.

it's not a fixed amount they're out by... it's a percentage.

ccciiiiinnnnnnddddyyyy 10th February 2009 13:21

put a 1.0 head on it increase the compression ratio just that little bit

we know that, ive actually got it to the end of the clock after about 5 miles flat out on the M6 on the way back from the lakes. no word of a lie. can easily touch 100 on a daily drive! one day if i get the equipment i'll prove it!

but then again it is LOADS more fun on B roads

mitchyg_saxo 10th February 2009 13:49

strip them!!!! my mates 1.1 smashed a 206 gti on a long straight, he was gutted! you will be suprised how many people you can annoy in a stripped 1.1!

oli208 10th February 2009 14:07

Saxos arn't really made for top speed they are for beatin peeps of the lights as they hav a good acc. But on the other had i owned ma m8 in a drag race n hes got a 1.4 corsa ;) i have done a few little engine mods nothin silly or expensive.
