tuft 29th December 2008 15:58

Mikol 3rd January 2009 16:15

Got mine today, already very impressed, havnt taken them over 1/2 volume yet, havn't needed to!!

Good crisp sound, very impressed for the price!!

As a side note, how should i bed them in before i really put the hammer down?

glad you like them :) as said, high quality at a bargain price

in what way do you mean bed them in mate? like sound proofing?

Stickyjam 3rd January 2009 17:04

speaker bedding as far as i was away, just means play on low volumes for a good period of time, then a lil louder , lil louder over and over to get the maximum performance out of them... with a good period of time being hours to days...

in that sence of the meaning. its an urban myth.. nobody really knows if its true or not

mattbarnes34 3rd January 2009 18:17

want these!
i think i got to go ahead and buy then tbh!

Mikol 4th January 2009 11:58

I have to say, these really are good. Better than my Inphase speakers I used to have anyways (of a similar price range, actually a tad more expensive)

My sub used to drown out my old speakers, now the treble is crisp at the higher volumes and compliments it nicely.

Very recommended! Cheers ash

any material that is subjected to movement/force will deform over a period of time, and that's what bedding in is all about really. It's real all right :)

i really want to know a true comparison between these and the spl 5.2's
ive been considering these two sets of components for a while and thought i made a decision but i just havent
i want to sell my 6x9's i have from my old car and then buy some components
i think the spl's will be better but are 70quid so should be and as said by ashleyp they are the most under rated comps. but i will be giving them 100w from my amp
will thaht still be good or should i run jbls with 100w ????

infinitym4ge 4th January 2009 23:17

i have the spl 5.2's not installed yet imo spl's are better because they are like £30 more here is a pic to compare if you can get a better pic of the GT0507c's

mattbarnes34 4th January 2009 23:23

that woofer does actually look sick lol
u amping them up when you put them in?
i defo think ill go for the spl's i just thinks its a case of finding the funds and selling a few stuff before i get them
will it be ok for a while to run the spl's amped up and nothing else as i may sell my current sub to buy these comps?

Barry123 4th January 2009 23:39

well Im very happy with my GT's. just a moving saxo isn't the best stage for them lol

Jorge- 4th January 2009 23:42

possibly the most stupid thing ive heard in my life

have you heard either set of components yet?

how can you say "i think its better because they cost more" without actually hearing either set of components?

yes imo the SPL's are better due to the powerful mid-bass they produce (providing you give them over 100wrms of power). but i have heard both sets and can make a valid comparison

sorry but that statement is just plain silly :n:

Jorge- 5th January 2009 10:20

Are these that good?

Make your mind up kiddo, youre welcome to come over today and hear mine.

The JBLS will take 70W from your amp, SPL's 100W.

My JBLs are at 80W but your amp is cleaner than mine so *should* be a close-enough indicator :)

mattbarnes34 5th January 2009 13:12

im guna listen to your maybe 2day if not 2moro
and make a decision lol
cheers mate.

the 506's were better iirc

cant remember as theyre both old stock

tuft 22nd January 2009 21:25

Still havent been able to install these yet but as the amp is slightly overpowering them, think its only 10 or 15rms would it be best to turn the amp down or will they take 70rms?

set the gain correctly.. it will be fine

just to clarify to all: THE GAIN IS NOT A VOLUME CONTROL

Jase 30th January 2009 09:52

which comps are better the 506's or 507's?? thx

Ashleyp 30th January 2009 11:05

theyre the same.. i thought the 506's were.. but they just retailed at a higher price.. ones just the newer version of the other.. both the same

tuft 30th January 2009 23:17

Finally get to install the amp and components 2mw!
will let you all know how it go's! :Y:

tuft 1st February 2009 17:37

nope.. but it can easily be done

tuft 1st February 2009 17:54

was lookin at it just now, seemed like it would have to be fitted a little too far back, dnt want anyone standing on it when they get in the back.
Layed all the wires tidy then discovered I didnt have enough speaker wire!

markwillows 3rd February 2009 13:54

Put mine in the mirror covers, works well enough for me :D

And I'd imagine sounds a little better as they're nearer ear-level height.

thats exactly what it is tho... a second volume control, use it to get the most range out of ur headunit, if the amps topping out at 20/50 volume on the h/u then u turn gain up some
