Lewis 25th November 2009 17:57

Just bought a stainless steel back box, £32 lol.

Ill get it on ASAP. Im also on the brink of buying a sub and amp.

Lewis 26th November 2009 16:36

Bought a kenwood amp yesterday, im looking for a cheap sub but i think its gonna have to wait till christmas. I did this photoshop for fun just to see what it would look like lowered.

I bought them for £40 off ebay picked em up nearby. About £25 on paint and filler, then a tyre cost £25 so totaled up: £90. Considering the all the tyres are immaculate and the wheels are in great condition i reckon theyre worth more.

Hey Tom, just out of interest did you pay much extra on your insurance for lowering your car?

P.S. Just bought yellow rim tape, will be putting that on soon and ill upload some pics of the calipers/drums.

sounds like a decent swap like just upta you what wheels u prefer.

is the rim tape yellow?

Lewis 27th November 2009 18:12

Yea its yellow, im gonna have to sort out the tyre rubbing before i put the tape on but my luck ive gone and lost the locking nut attachment :(

If i get bored of the alloys i mite do a swap :)

I just got my backbox fitted ill post some pics in the daylight.

Lewis 28th November 2009 17:40

Big update for me today, ive got the back box on and ive done the yellow rimtape and i have to say it looks stunning!!! Im exstatic with it. So here some images to share. Cheers :y:

Lewis 29th November 2009 13:47

Lol, i was thinking about where to go next. After christmas my sound system and spoiler will be done, then i think ill give ya call tom and we can start slammin her :P

Cutz 29th November 2009 14:12

Good progress on car mate, not keen on exhaust but other than that coming on smartly! I'd still remove reflectors regardless of rear lights, but that's just my opinion, keep at it and drop her :)

Cutz

Ozzay 29th November 2009 14:18

i like! slam it!

crazyrichard 29th November 2009 14:34

one thing strikes me your car is so high stock
my 1.1 is lower on stock springs ..
how would that be possible
i also looked at your hight with the stock wheels :y:

Its wierd that actually, my mate has a forte and im definatly shure his is lower on standard settings, if me and tom have a go at lowering it we'll take some measurements to be shure.

The exhaust is massive, but when you hear it all your doubts go away xD

Im not shure about the reflectors, you reckon the police will stop me about it if i remove them?

Cheers for feedback everyone :)

Mine was really high as standard tbh, i dont think you would get pulled without the reflectors like but its weather you want to run the risk or not.

crazyrichard 29th November 2009 18:10

look at mine it is bone stock i only pulled of the plastic wheel caps
looks way les high (?)

one where i put my new rim in front for getting an idea also 15"so you can see pretty much it looks lower (?)

Try get a pic of your car from level with the top of the wheel and ill do the same, then we can check accuratly.

Mabey its something to do with Desire vs Forte ??

crazyrichard 29th November 2009 18:42

how do you mean ecaxtly from the side horizontal ??

crazyrichard 29th November 2009 18:50

this one shows my front hight real good

compare that to your front then the angle of the shot doent matter that much
looks like a big difference

weird thing is there are a couple of other 1.1 posted in teh photo thread thy also look kinda high

it wouldnt be a uk thing now would it ??

Mcinabout 29th November 2009 19:41

Looking good mate:y: Should look good with a spoiler on,Hopefully sometime in the new year ill have my dropped too:y: Liking the rimtape. Keep up the good work.

Lewis 29th November 2009 20:22

Cheers, your cars looking sweet too ;)

Mabey the UK saxo's were slightly different in ride hight but until i get the measuring tape out i cant be shure.

Heres what i mean by a side on angle:

Ill take another photo with the arch in view tommorow.

scott-e- 29th November 2009 20:34

lookin gud mate nice and clean have you thaught of putting a vt kit on it or going for a custom look?

Lewis 30th November 2009 12:58

I did actually but im on a bit of a tight budget to be honest. I think after christmas once its lowered and tinted ill decide wether to go for the VT kit or buy a VTR.

Lewis 1st December 2009 13:13

If anyone is interested i posted a vid of my exhaust noise on Youtube: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b4nYhT3zfbw

Lewis 6th December 2009 13:36

Im back already, turns out thanks to Tom5190, your a legend mate, we did a straight swap my standard air filter for his PiperX one. Very chuffed sounds great, thought id leave some pics for you.

Cheers for looking :)

Morgiee 7th December 2009 20:09

Nice pipercross filter, iv got one it doesnt do much proformance wise but it turns heads when you slam it into 2nd and hit on the accelerater lol :y:

Lewis 7th December 2009 21:13

Lol im exactly the same 2nd gear is your friend, 10mph up to 60mph in 1 gear sounds amazing :)

Ozzay 7th December 2009 21:42

Ring up your insurers to find out, i think it costs me about £50 extra for the year

Silver indicator bulbs, they look better than orange. (Obviously they still flash orange/amber!)

Easy to install, just replace your current ones

Lewis 8th December 2009 15:04

Sounds good mate, i did some research and strangly halfords wernt too bad, 10 quid so ill give it a look. Also i did call the insurance and they said they would need an engineers report and if its all good they would give me a price. Im with Quinn Direct if that helps :)

Chin 8th December 2009 15:44

Fucking hell , engineers report :panic:

Lewis 8th December 2009 16:27

Lol, what is it exactly? And it costs money, money i dont have :( stingy insurance b'tards :P

Morgiee 8th December 2009 22:10

You dont need to tell your insurance mate, their only interested if anything you have done increases proformance. well i.e. your airfilter but i told mine its all stock parts .

Dewiper is easy i just used a hammer and hit the top were the bolt is but not to hard as it may break the window. It just loosens it.

And lowering, as llong as it doesnt affect your driving ability that doesnt need to be told.

I remember the hard times as a student wanting loads of car modds.

Keep it plane and simple for a couple of years or you'll end up in big debt. I almost couldnt affort my insurance at one point.

Lewis 9th December 2009 09:00

Cheers for the advice. Im thinking of dropping the ride height by 40mm all round, at least it wont look like a monster truck then so it would be hard to notice i had done anything.

Add on the cost of a spoiler and window tints i doubt ill spend much over £200 more on it.

As for insurance, ill see what happens, i may be able to bring my parents round and get away with it :)

Youll be lucky with £200 mate, once you get into it little things go wrong and need sorting, youll be talking thousands i never realised how much i spent on mine, now im stopping for a bit as money isnt that easy these days more modds in the new year.

As for window tints i had mine done at National windscreens and they did a fantastic job of the back window which only cost £40! And for lowering, to have it lowered 60mm all over and correct springs and full service you can get it for £150 at a garage i would highly recommend called Manic Motors in Sunderland, thier a Citreon and Pergoet specialist so you know its getting done properally lol. They are going around alot on sax-p so look out for them and apparentely you can get discount if you quote saxperience when enquiring :y:

Good luck mate, keep me posted with further developments
