Haha, It certainly made me look twice when you posted that Lol

Nah, Its got half of a VT kit on it at the moment, tomorrow (depending on the weather) I'll be putting the front arches on and the VT bumper I just got delivered.
I'll be servicing it and replacing the Discs, pads and calipers as they're mullered now.
Then at somepoint i'll be lowering it so it sits nicely, probably around 50mm but I'll be replacing the Dampers for decent ones with that aswell, so im waiting until ive got a nice amount of Money first :D

Robbie-Flat-Arch 10th November 2010 17:37

ahh ok mate cool will be good to see, u going to put vtr calipers on? ive got them on mine and are so much better i really recommend them. good luck with the weather tomorrow hope it stays dry!

Yeah I probably will at somepoint, But need to get hold of a pair of Vtr/s struts and a rear beam.. So I'll probably look into doing that over the christmas period or something.

Ideally I want it all done, painted, lowered, VTR/S brakes conversion by february, then Once my insurance goes down, Do an engine change maybe. I want to get it on track a few times next year so One of the next things im buying is a decent half cage :D

Bit more of an update..not much, but it's still progress :D

Excuse poor pictures, My phone is either great or appalling at taking pictures, just depends what day it is..
Got my Tow strap fitted, and had a go at mounting the new VT bumper..

However, I then realised that it didn't have the side mountings on. Bugger.
So i found some on ebay, no idea if they're going to fit..as I'm not sure if they differ from normal ones. I;e, 1.1 etc.

Recieved this today aswell..

Thanks Lippy :D

Just another thing to play about with i guess.

Also started painting the rest of the car today aswell,

rear quarter done-ish.
Excuse the half arsed Saxperience sticker that someone attempted to peel off, I need to get round to replacing it.

Rear quarter and lower VT panel done, sort of.

Got the front arch on..

Also, the door trim I put on a while ago has come never been on properly, mainly because I rushed it and didnt clamp it down properly..so I need to take it off and redo it at somepoint. :D

Oil filter arrived to..

(The postman loves me..everyday he seems to come with a parcel of some sort) :D

Nothing to do with my car,

Mmmm Proxes:p

Oh..and, This happened at college this week to...LOL

One of out tutors dropped an Engine..He got absolutely terrorised for it, and it's/was someones engine for there project this year too. Ahh Lol

Anyway, thats it for another day.

ed-bradley 19th November 2010 22:59

Another mini-update.

Been Ebay happy in the past couple of days.

FINALLY!!! Found and bought a pair of calipers to replace my duff ones! :D
They should be here sometime next week, as will a few tools.
bought a Draper expert Socket/torx set. A decent breaker bar and torque wrench and a few other little bits so very happy :)

Just waiting on my front bumper fixings and calipers to arrive, and the Magnex rear box from ScottyGSI( Cheers man) then can get some more pictures up as im working all weekend now.

Haha..I know..I keep kicking myself not to do it like yours, but it just somehow seems to keep going that way. :A: Im sorry. Lol

If needs be I can always change colours and such, as that was one of the things I would like to do anyway, Just so when I get bored I can bust the spray cans out and go crazy :P

Dunn_vts 21st November 2010 21:24

Mate..........theres some unit stood in the middle of that pic of the engine at college

he is hench

ed-bradley 26th November 2010 18:17

Managed to get some calipers New for £50-ish a side..

After I ordered them I found a pair of Calipers on ebay going for £10 each.. Obviously I had to buy them!

So managed to get them, and cancelled the order for my New ones , which saved me a bit of money for more pointless things..

Pointless things...Like Carbon fibre..yay

Only problem is though..I thought the dimensions were 2000mm x 1700mm when I read the description of it... then soon after I paid for it, realised it was only 200mm x 170mm LOL.

No wonder it was cheap :D
So im stuck with what to do with it now..probably just fabricate some window switch mounts and such to the dash for when I remove my centre console. :D

*Lesson...Always re-read the description..**
ahh well

ed-bradley 2nd December 2010 13:34

Dunn_vts 14th December 2010 18:32

I would of loled if that 20p was dateless ;)

any progress on this?

ed-bradley 14th December 2010 18:42

that 20p's now in a Mcdonalds Cash till.

Nah, wanna get it all done over the christmas period ready for january.

ed-bradley 29th December 2010 18:06

Finally got some Compomotive Mo5's.

Found a set for £80 about 20 miles away. The guys delivering them tomorrow so will get some pictures up and whatnot then after work.

Pretty sure they've got naff tyres on, and one is said to be low on tread anyway.
So going down to a new tyre place in Macclesfield, they've got proxes in at £75 per pair.

:D
Ed.

ed-bradley 5th January 2011 20:23

Ended up picking my wheels up instead due to work..
Still..only 15 miles away, and Bought/collected some Coilovers from Boony on the same day too :D
Won't be putting the coilovers on for a while yet though, waiting until i've sorted everything else and sourced a Vts or 106 Gti rear beam. :)

**My car is on Axle stands here...Its not several foot from the road when the wheels are on the ground**

They do need a good clean up, and one is in desperate need for a refurb..So I'll be doing that in time and replacing the centre caps as the current ones are faded.
Can't complain for £80 though..Got a mega deal on them, and the tyres aren't all that bad either, bar one which is on the limit. But I'll be changing them for a set of Proxes once they're refurbed.

Coilovers..

again, these were £80. Not a bad purchase Imo. Should do me for abit anyway :)

Bit of a crap Picture of my Roller Cab I bought last week too.

Bit of a bummer..

Started replacing my calipers yesterday, was in abit of a rush before I went to collect my wheels and coilivers, put the Torx bit in, but not all the way( My bad), Snapped it in the bolt...(Nice one). Put me on a downer, but still..I'm soldiering on..slowly Lol.

gox 6th January 2011 00:39

Nice! When you'll fit coilovers on car, tell us please your experience about them and how much is the car lowered..tnx ! ;)

ed-bradley 6th January 2011 00:49

Cheers man, Yeah I'll report back on what they're like when i've fitted them.

No idea when that'll be though, a few months away i'm guessing. Possible after I come back from Glastonbury, as I'll have spare cash for a rear beam/engine & loom etc.

Haven't had a decent look at them yet, nor the wheels. Next chance I'll get at going over them will probably be next tuesday on my day off. :D

Jay_ 6th January 2011 10:21

never looked at this before but you have got some really good stuff going on fella! impressed!! :y:

Cheers man, Its a rather slow and painful project..But I'll get there in the end :D

Just need to change these Discs and calipers over, then its pretty much sorted..Mechanically wise anyway, apart from the wipers..which I still haven't sussed out why they're not working.:wall:

Gonna crack on with the brakes and Fitting the harness's properly on tuesday, then try and finish painting it if I get chance.

Thats about it for now :)
Will update shortly
Ed.

Delboy 22nd January 2011 22:58

looks like some good progress...literally everything you've done i thought of doing to mine, even the same wheels i was gonna get, but i'm gonna save all my money for the next car (furio probably), going to keep an eye on this thread though looks good!

ed-bradley 25th January 2011 17:16

Got bored this morning, so Decided to spray the now redundant steelies.
They're a bit rough, But t'was my first attempt at actually spraying wheels..ever. :D

Excuse the marks on the black parts, its just Tape residue/sticky stuff..

Originally wanted them Black and orange.. But the Orange spray paint I got, is absolutely wank. :D Just splatters, no matter what. So used the green paint I had from a while back.
I'll redo them when I get bored, in orange.

VTSDanny 25th January 2011 17:36

Just read the whole lot enjoyed it too!! good build you got going mate..
10/10 for effort :y:

ed-bradley 10th February 2011 20:01

Been a While, no Pictures or anything..
It's as it was pretty much before.

Just updating the situation. :)

- Sourced a VTS Engine,Gearbox, loom & Ecu.
I'll be collecting it in a Couple of weeks :)

- Finally managed to get some Bumper mounts for that 'effing VT bumper. :)

- Picked up a Pair of Toyo T1R's today, £75 for the pair. I'll be putting them on, aswell as the others I bought a bit ago once I've refurbed the Compomotives in a couple of weeks while I'm off college.

- I've thought of the Ingenious idea of using "Guitar Straps" for my Door pulls aswell, due to me cutting away the inner door and having no interior handle.. So I Bought an Orange one earlier, I'll have a play with that and get it sorted :D

-Booking my Ferry soon, Destined for the Nurburgring via France in August with the Saxo, Hopefully with the Vts engine in place.

I'll post up pictures of Odd bits I've gathered for the Build. As you can guess.. It's destined for the track now. I'll be getting a Multi-point cage in around June/july. As I'm going to Glastonbury, so Funds are needed for that-rather than the Cage.

The compo's were more of an Impulse buy tbh.. And they were a pretty decent price, so can sell them on with minimal hassle. :)

I'm debating whether to use the VTS/GTI beam though..
If I can get away with using a Decent brake setup on the front, Like 'Mikol's 106, then I'll stay with 3 studs.
I need to see which is the more viable option tbh, as I rarely get chance to work on it due to College & work.
