20mm mate :y:

Interested to see what it looks like with these fitted
Considering 15mm on rear for mine
Had 25 and was rubbing tyres on the arches over bumps
Think 20 on the front will be too much though
I'm thinking maybe 5/10/15 on the front - 15 at a push!
Await images of your spacers fitted to see what I think :P

Ideally they are for when i get Starmags so they fit over the brakes but i will fit them before hand anyway, when you had 25mm spacers what tyre size did you have?

I'm hoping 20mm wont rub too much :P

dolby20 21st July 2012 13:46

I had 195/45 on 15's with a 40mm drop on the rear
It caused about 5mm of the outside tyre wall to rub on the arch when the suspension was in bump
Rebound obviously moved it away, and being stationary it wasn't touching

I think you'll pull 20mm off
With smaller wheels, and being 5mm thinner
I just think 20mm is too much on the front
My opinion, not fact of course :)

Ryan1992 21st July 2012 20:26

Fitted my spacers today and its given it a nice little poke!
I've also decided to stick to standard saxo lights as i keep fucking up the euro ones every time i try spraying them!

I tryed getting some pictures but they dont really do it justice :/

dolby20 21st July 2012 20:30

Looks about right!

I've got 15mm spacers on my starmags and i still had to cut the top of me rear arch insides. 20mm is to much id say. that extra 5mm will probly still rub the back after cutting the arches. (70mm rear drop) ofcourse, but to pull starmags off you need to go low low IMO

Most other people who have 13" wheels have fitted 20mm spacers and they have said its fine.
I think that 60mm all round pulls it off ok as well :y:

shaund123 22nd July 2012 22:43

My VTR has got exactly the same interior as this but different head rests and VTR stitched into them and i havent got a clue what its out of lol, nice car mate! like the look of the 20mm spacers

i take it your a member of virgin active then, as you can only get up their if you got a that card :y:

cars looking good, havent seen you around in ages

like those wheels too :y:

Ryan1992 28th July 2012 18:09

Got the car lowered today by Kris, just have to say he's a nice guy who did an excellent job. I would defineatly recommend him to anyone :y:

The bad news is that apex had sent me some 50mm springs rather than 60mm ones so at the moment the car is sitting 50-70. It looks great at the back but the front is still to high, but im gonna see what it looks like after fitting the wheels.
If its too high then i may consider getting some coilovers to get the front down to 70mm as well.

Got a pic of the back afterwards, will try and get some decent pictures once the wheels arrive :)

i want to concentrate on the rallye and get a full respray, and make a mint orignal example, well apart from a mani, and maybe some mild cams

Ryan1992 6th August 2012 20:35

So the new wheels have arrived at last! :)

I'm not even sure on the exact make but the are ATS 13" 7J alloys
They aren't in perfect condition but its nothing a bit of polish can't handle!

Sorry about the god awful pictures as well, just realised how shit the pics are!

chris-hall-yo 6th August 2012 21:57

These will look sweet man, slam it on stretch! At least its not another set of starmags, this will look original. Nice one fella

JoshFurioBrookes 6th August 2012 22:30

Wheels look so good! Nice to see somebody doing something different. I'd give up using springs to go low at the front unless getting some custom ones made or something. Just keep an eye out on 106OC and here for someone selling second hand GAZ GHA's and get them. Worthwhile buy I think.

Mrjayware 6th August 2012 23:35

Them wheels i recon will suit the car really well! Really unusual ;)

LSOfreak 7th August 2012 00:53

love them wheels

some different at last!

Ryan1992 7th August 2012 19:05

Cheers guys :)

i forgot to mention as well that i got the rear de-wipered the other day as well, i'll get a picture up when my car is a bit cleaner, haven't washed it in weeks!

Also..

Does anyone know what sort of tyre size would give the wheels a little bit of stretch but not too much?
They are 7J 13"
thanks!

Jimmy-Boy 7th August 2012 19:54

50/175 :)

p.s i really like them wheels!

Ryan1992 16th August 2012 19:13

So the wheels are on!
The back looks fine to me but the front defo needs to come down another 20mm or so :/

Only got some rubbish pictures at the moment

Gonna get some good pictures somewhere when its a sunny day and had a wash, cheers for looking :y:

Oh and also, centre caps are in the post!

They are :y: i've always liked the look of 13" wheels on saxo's like i said though it needs to come down another 20mm or so to get rid of the arch gap!

GolfJay 16th August 2012 20:02

Those wheels are excellent but I just can't help but think they're to small? 14's would have been perfect!!

Lewis 16th August 2012 20:39

Kudos for putting some fresh wheels on a Saxo. Need to nail the stance now

m11ler 16th August 2012 21:15

Fair play man, those wheels look the nuts, could do with a little spacing all round, and a lot of lowering on the front haha, 20mm wont cut it mate! You're gonna need gaz coilies with custom springs. Get saving!

I cant really space them out anymore, the tread on the front tyres as actually slightly sticking out from the arch but hopefully nobody will notice!

GAZ coilies are on my to do list, im just waiting for a 2nd hand set to come up on ebay or on here :)

Ahh fair enough mate, might just be the angle of the photos then!
I'll keep an eye out for some coilies aswell man, they come up on 106oc quite often.

Ryan1992 27th August 2012 00:26

Got some pictures just to show how the wheels are sticking out alot further from the arches than they look

Still haven't washed the car yet too get some nice pictures. My exhaust is blowing really badly and it sounds/smell awfull so i'm getting that sorted on tuesday before i do anything :)

westy_ 27th August 2012 01:11
