My bro is 22 and wanted one for ages, finally got one and it's just had niggles that have annoyed him to the point he wants to sell up and just get a diesel again, albeit a 330d, but a diesel none the less! Can see why an 18 year old would think they are good though

What do you mean by niggly problems, what should i look out for?

Feels like i am driving a merc compared to the saxo, the inside feels so spacious and luxurious, and to think it is only 6months newer than the saxo is mad.

Looks decent.

Did you not check to see what the common problems were with these? :A:

Electrics, stuff like airbag light, temp sensor, speedo sensor is the big one at the minute, exhaust rot, mainly electrical niggles. Nothing major, just little things. I think his needs some suspension work as well like, it's a bit clunky, but he got it cheap so nothing too bad given the price.

Ah right, i understand what you mean by niggly now. Mine has come with a ktec exhaust so shouldnt get the rot on that. I noticed the vibrations yesterday due to the engine mounts, strangely like it though haha!

Temperature sensor issues, at least the gauge is generally caused by the thermostat.
These cars love to eat ball joints too

Davyy 21st January 2013 14:26

Havent heard that one, will keep an eye out!

Need to get some clear side repeaters soon, orange looks dated

Davyy 21st January 2013 17:57

Davyy 21st January 2013 18:11

1380, turn 19 in feb and when my renewal comes in may i will get my first ncb so hopefully drop a fair bit

Dano 21st January 2013 19:46

Looks tidy enough :D

Enjoy it man, had mine around 4 months now and it still puts the same smile on my face as day one :)

Whirly 21st January 2013 19:55

Looks a tidt motor mate, like a few people have said i 3/4 front plate would the finish the front end off nicely and maybe take the yellow off the fogs. in my eyes flamers have always looked good on anthracite turinis.

Cheers mate, yeah i will be getting a 3/4 plate in bear future :) and will be taking the yellow film off the fogs..

Any other visual/interior suggestions? Im looking about and not too much taking my fancy to mod!

Scott83 21st January 2013 20:12

There's a lad on CS.net that re-trims various parts of the interior trim, possibly Austin182 or something similar. Think he is on eBay as well.

You can get a metal foot rest cover to match the pedals.

I prefer black wheels on the flamers. Mine has been the least modified car ive had. They are decent from Renault and I ferry the kids about in mine.

Looks pretty good as it is mate just spray the mirrors flamer red thats about it, could spray the engine cover if you have one? and spray the inlet and fuel rain guard.

Davyy 21st January 2013 20:15

Gonna look for someone breaking a flamer for the mirrors, prev. owner has put some decent vinyl on little bits on interior which I like. I prefer alloys standard colour, then they look standard ;)

Whirly 21st January 2013 20:20

Yeah silver does go good with the red imo

Davyy 21st January 2013 20:28

Gonna give it a quick clean, nothing special then getting exterior and interior detailed near end of feb :D

Whirly 21st January 2013 20:36

Yeah i was thinking about Detailing mine at the weekend, havent cleaned it in about 3/4 months lol

Davyy 21st January 2013 20:44

Haha, i have never cleaned my saxo in my life, so much effort, but now i have a half decent car gonna look after it!

Davyy 24th January 2013 13:28

ITG Induction kit, see for sale thread.

Davyy 5th February 2013 16:13

After a clean.. Lovelyyyy!

Possibly up for sale, message me if interested.

Giraffe 5th February 2013 16:17

Up for sale already?!

Davyy 5th February 2013 16:19

Possibly, really unsure as I love driving it everyday. Fuel is possibly a bit much for me at the moment on my apprentice wage! Costing me just under £200 a month. As said it is possibly as I do love it so I would have it up for a fairly steep price and wouldnt sell for less so.. we'll see :)

Gandi699 5th February 2013 16:27

what mpg are you getting from it? should get 40 on a run at 60-70mph quite easily

Davyy 5th February 2013 16:33

Erm I do a good 35 miles a day, probably 15 of them motorway. My mpg thing says 33.7mpg. I never thrash it as such but some fun. Filled it up on Sunday night and have used just under 1/3 a tank already but I have done probably 100 miles ish, maybe a bit more.

Davyy 11th February 2013 09:17

Went to drive to work yesterday, reversed off the drive fine, selected 1st and then there was just no drive :( just an awful grinding noise

My guess is the driveshaft has come out of the gearbox :( - being recovered this morning and then to the mechanics

Gandi699 11th February 2013 09:19

Unlikely the shaft is just going to fall out of the box

Davyy 11th February 2013 09:30

Yeah i know, i had same on my 1.2 and thats what it was due to a hole in the bit which holds the gearbox oil

The mechanic reckons the internal spring on the driveshaft ? or something, and if that has gone into the box i will need a new box :(

Davyy 11th February 2013 15:11

New driveshaft it is - should have it back today, £130 later!

Davyy 23rd February 2013 08:10

Driveshaft issue got fixed that day.

Had x2 Toyo Proxes T1Rs fitted on Thursday, feels planted and happy with them for £120 fiited. All the better as well as I got the tracking done.

Getting it detailed on Monday by Moxy, pics to follow.

Next thing to do is get 2 average rear tyres as they are a little low and sort out this rubbing/grinding noise from the rear right wheel. Sounds similar to a gone bearing or rubbing brake.

Davyy 25th February 2013 18:41

Had my car detailed today, machine polish etc etc.

Here is a few pictures, and well spent money in my opinion!

moxy89 25th February 2013 21:49

ever since you have left i have been online trying to find a 172 cup, yours is perfect mate, i love it, there is also a thread on detailing world where people are enjoying your motor

Davyy 25th February 2013 22:56

Haha yeah is very nice :D cliosport are liking your work also! Link to thread?

Davyy 26th February 2013 16:44

Had to be a bus wanker today :( car is getting new brake pads all round, hopefully solve the grinding noise.

Trying to maintain this 100% and make sure there are no little niggles, otherwise they build up and you end up hating the car - as i did with my VTR :(

Cheers! Haha shh, i knew it wouldnt just fall out but it seemed similar to when it came out on my old clio due to a whole in part of the box causing it to lose the gearbox oil

Gandi699 27th February 2013 11:50

If it comes out of the stupidly designed oil seal cum gaitor, then you'll ditch gearbox oil. Pain in the arse that is on the JC5

Oh no, that didnt have on this clio. That was on my 1.2 ph1. The issue on this the driveshaft cv gaitor and the driveshaft bearings.

Davyy 1st April 2013 17:36

No progress as such, had my first attempt of cleaning and it was awfully dirty due to the salty motorways.

All i used to Autoglym shampoo and detailer and came up lovely.

Need new front bumper, service etc which i'll do after May (Insurance renewal).

Such a gorgeous colour when clean and sun shining, horrid when dirty though.
