lol, thank you, nice to see someone admit when they think they are wrong lol.
Yeh look good dont they. Foggy- nah they're for show, everyone leaves em on all the time round here lol. |
If you hadnt painted the reflective bit it would still pass the MOT. But because you have its not my thing. I prefer my black ones with the reflective part still reflective.
|
Nice guide mate, very easy to follow and helpful...
Although they look nice you have massively reduced the power of your lights, as the light is not reflected forwards... You shouldn't be able to see the light surround with the headlight on... my standard bulbs are brighter despite the fact this picture is taken when it is still fairly light... it is fair enough painting the insert, and although painting the surround may look cool it is potentially dangerous... as your headlights are weaker... This is an old pic of my car, but the standard bulbs appear much brighter: ![]() Although your guide for the inserts is very useful :Y: Alex :geek: p.s. I would leave you positive rep as i recognise the time and effort that you must have put into this guide, but it says i have to spread it around a bit first :P |
good guide there mate. i think they look ace, but counrty driving at night will be a task! lol
bulbs can be taken out before removing the unit from the car by the way, bit safer. dont fancy putting my bulbs in the oven when they cost me £15 each! |
great guide mate i'm going to try this 1 tomorrow i'm not in work. :)
just going to do them black tho. i got a wicked red sax. not sure about putting them in the oven tho... |
LIGHTS are perfectly LEGAL with EVERYTHING CODED.
Fully checked by police and VOSA lkast night at edinburgh cruise. |
well fair thatll shut them up
|
i stand corrected...
turn your fogs off though. |
so it is legal to do the outer bit and leave the shint part? cos i want to do mine black!
|
it is legal to do which ever bits you please mate.
|
cheers
i'm going to try this however, is there a different way to do it, other than puting them in the oven?? |
you could use a hair dryer i recan??????????
|
Very good guide mate. This will come in very handy tomoz mate. repped
|
Ye i done mine black and used a hair dryer to heat up the glue. And tbh it doesnt affect the brightness of the lights. Well not enough for me to notice.
Good guide. |
your ligths will look like candles want they????

That aimed at me? What do you mean ? Kris |
what is the best black paint to use, sounds stupid but i.e gloss metalic stuff like that, going to be some standards and doing this to them...
cheers |
what was the other website with a guide? ssc?
|
|
what kind of glue is used on the lights, or if i get into bother should i just use silicone?
|
you wanna use matt black if you want the Ultra style appearence man. dont worry about what glue it is just reuse the original stuff :y:

one question? does it make your oven stink as its a fairly new oven :homme: i.e 1 month old |
Use a hairdryer mate thats awhat i did, takes 10 minutes but just leave the dryer heating the lens and its all good. I feel a bit gay cooking my headlights and they may melt lol
|
they look pretty good with them on but not too keen when not...it;s 6 of one and half a dozzen of the other
|
cant belive u painted the reflective part :D
classic |
painting the reflective parts around the bulb is illegal, purpose is it acts as a lens to focus and direct the light on to the road
now when they MOT it, it will fail, sorry to say mate well good write up though :y: sam |
Your light might be ok for the police as they are displayng the correct colour but come Mot time your car will fail as it will have no beam pattern.
Whats happened to the refective dome off the headlight? |
Quote:
that is all. |
Quote:
saw that too! well spotted! (dome) ???????????? |
Quote:
Hmm lens cap that should be infront of the bulb? What every you call it?;) |
do we have t pre-heat the oven? lol
|
pre heat the oven to 200 degrees celsius first ;)
|

ahhhhh what about my pizza?! good write up bud! |
so is this not the right way to do this
|
Right. What parts of the light can be colour coded? The whole of the part in the red circle? The parts between the red cirlde and the green cirlces? Will this make it road legal?
Im presuming that the blue circled one shouldnt be touched as its a reflective thingy. ![]() Im just wondering as my dad says I should only spray black the parts between the red and green circles, and inside the green its reflective aswell (on standards) Sorry for the cofusion! Clarification would be appreciated :A: |
You got it perfectly Morgeh. The reflective surface behind the bulb is legally required. Every headlight in the u.k. that is used on public roads MUST have them. The dome that goes in front of the bulb is known as a light mask and normall attached the the reflector. I don't think this is a legal requirement though because not all aftermarket headlights have them e.g. morettes dont
|
this is a great thread!
ding, ding, round 2. |
much aggro lol, looks good tho
|
