Well she runs :D
Ive got it idling at 2k rpm at the moment - couldn't get it any lower even with the throttle fully shut so will need to seal the inlet to the head as it's currently just metal on metal. Sounds pretty standard which is good, just need to seal the inlet/head join, put a filter on it and start to build up a basemap Will be trial and error to see what sort of idle I can get with 65lb injectors :S Am just happy to get it running as I've built the map from scratch and changed from alpha-n to speed density which is a bit of a pain but is well on the way to getting one built up. |
Legend ross, think youll miss the bodies untill boost comes. :p

I do wish I had the cash to just ring GMC and get a charger sorted but this Be conversion will sap money, and then I have to sort the engine bay out. |
What other plans have you got for the car that arent engine related? Stripped/caged?? Suspension setup staying same?
What will main use be for car? Everyday or weekend toy? |

Suspension and brakes will stay the same for now, but eventually I'll put some discs on the rear and fit some of the Hi Spec 2 pots with inbuilt cable handbrake setup. Car will just be a weekend toy used on the road and track hence the suspension will stay as it is, I've got an 04 3.2 Vectra now as a daily and it's 200% more comfy to drive than the saxo but nowhere near as fun. I've got to give it a major service next week, but after that it'll be good to go and I can pull the engine out of the saxo. |

Looking forward to see'ing this car finished though, not many supercharged saxos about now and can tell this is going to be a good spec. |

It wasn't too bad, fairly cheap as it needs a major service - it's got the squarish lights - I plan on getting an irmscher grill to make it a bit more stealthy. No real plans for it tbh, other than plowing the miles on it - the V6 is pretty bullet proof and the cruise control is nice so will just be cruising the motorways in it. Thanks mate, I hope it's a nice spec - should be a great car once done if I can do the work to a nice standard ! Fingers crossed !! |
Was good to meet you at FCS! Plans sound really good, i'll be keeping an eye on this thread :y:

27th June 2010 - car's slowly getting there for a Rotrex setup
Car now has a 180mm clutch and flywheel setup on it whilst I pull together the Be conversion parts & get money to buy a clutch to cope with the boosted power. Would like 250atw so the torque will be lower than this, so the clutch setup doesn't need to be too hardcore, a single plate setup should be fine. C2 inlet is running well, just playing about with the cold start maps/enrichments at the moment. It starts on the turn of the key and revs pretty freely. Idles well at around 100-1100rpm, doesn't like anything below this. I'm waiting for a throttle cable nipple/end to come and then I can get it ready to go out on the road and get a basemap going. Testing out the S1 box right now too so will see how that feels on the road :) I'm planning on visiting Germany, then down to Romania, Italy and Switzerland on a nice 14day driving holiday so only have 5 weeks to get the car ready to do that, as wouldn't be fun in any other car. Car should be okay reliability wise but I want to get the Be conversion done before then so will need to crack on with things ! Waiting on the hubs and shims to return this week. I've measured up the driveshaft to be shortened so just need to get in contact with a company to do it. Will be going for an ATSpeed mount setup, and will get the CPS mount from them too and alter the ignition setting on the ECU to match. Then going with a hydraulic clutch setup. Unfortunately it's looking like I'll need to go with gear linkage rods as opposed to the cable setup due to the lack of time until Europe but will see once the engine is out. I'm just nervous about keeping strength in the bulkhead for the brake servo setup whilst rebating into it to fit the cable bracketry -hrmmmmmmmmmm. I'll try and get some pics up soon. |
