Don't give up yet mate.

Like what's been said above, I have heard they can be unhelpful sometimes but it sounds like once you speak to John you'll be fine.

jpsaxo 23rd October 2007 01:29

DOnt give up yet mate, as i said via text... Just imagine how many people calls they get from chav's asking how much a s/c conversion is -- never to hear from them again!

You really have to make them aware how much you really want it doing, John is very helpful once they get to know you, and know how genuine you are - he couldnt have helped me more with my project!!

P.s. after the shocking job pug1off did on colin's car and several other reports i'd never let them near my car - only gmc for me!

rushy_23 23rd October 2007 08:36

Hmmmm lol.

Colins cars and others? Josh we need a thread with details now!!

Tuesday 23rd October

Well todays the day that the head is supposed to be arriving back.

No sign of it yet...

will it arrive today?
will it arrive before 2pm?

Got work at 2 so im slighty worried as noone will be home after that time, i may have to call in sick for work...

with only leaving a few hours before calling in, what excuses would you use?

tazmania_0345 23rd October 2007 09:34

lol i like the honest approach but i think it may go down like a lead balloon :)

Theres a managers position coming up at work and ive told them straight that i want it, so gotta work hard for a while ideally.

Maybe an excuse whereby i cant go in until about 6pm, they wont mind so much if i can get the busy last part of the shift in

R4T 23rd October 2007 10:02

its a difficult 1 mate

willsy 23rd October 2007 10:03

Sorted, going into work at 6, was honest with them and said ill make up the other 4 hours on saturday as im working a late then anyway ill just go in a bit earlier :)

Wheres my phone, giving GMC another call :y:

rushy_23 23rd October 2007 10:12

Willsy you should of just litterally just said "guys, Im getting some head"

Fingers crossed with GMC mate.

R4T 23rd October 2007 10:14

is it gmc doing the head work?

rushy_23 23rd October 2007 10:16

QEP did the headwork. Matt wants GMC to do the cams and mapping I think.

willsy 23rd October 2007 10:21

Yeah QEP have done all the headwork, its had Catcam 708's fitted with new followers. Its been skimmed and had the valves taken out and reground, new guides and seats cut etc etc and its been fuly cleaned up. should look brand spanking new hopefully :)

With GMC initially i want some advice as what to do with my bottom end before putting the head back on and getting the timing setup.

Ive got big and little end bearings to change, bottom end seals, and some other bearings (forget technical names for those) also with high milage i want to cange the piston rings anyway, but im wondering whether to get the pistons changed anyway out of precaution as i dont want to put it all back together only to find that theyre pants.

After that from GMC ill want a KMS with a base map to match what ive got and for them to remap it for me :y:

R4T 23rd October 2007 10:22

pug performance are also good for advice, sounds like its gona be quick mate

willsy 23rd October 2007 10:25

Im aiming for 150bhp at the fly, should be easily achievable i hope, and then any extra will be a nice bonus.

If i put in some forged pistons anyway at least then if i get power happy ill be all setup for putting throttle bodies on in the long run.

I need to work out though whether to just replace pistons for the standard sized forged ones, or will it be worth getting the bottom end cleaned and bored out a touch with the slightly oversized pistons to go in due to the 98k original milage?

Tricky one, so as ever any advice much appreciated :y:

willsy 23rd October 2007 10:38

Im like an unsettled wreck this morning lol every single hint of a lorry coming down the road im up and running to the window to see if its stopping here

Wayne 23rd October 2007 11:24

awesome progress mate:y: can't wait to see the finished product:P:)

R4T 23rd October 2007 11:38

lol i hate when something dosnt arrive,i would go for forged pistons but maybe look more into replacing water pump, bottom end bearing etc
