16v is the more powerful engine, more to life than just power else people would just bang v8's in the lil saxos :D

8v is only a little slower than 16v really, but both can get ya a driving ban, the 8v is also as a rule more reliable in my experience

D--R--E--W 22nd September 2009 20:52

you should buy raceland coilovers lol

''gets up and walks away from the computer with a smug look on face''

MR_N 22nd September 2009 20:53

Oh, thats shit aint it. Makes me feel good though as we have the same "type" of engine (old 8v) and mine has just rolled onto 70k. Still not a bit healthy though lol. Hope everything starts looking up mate, sure it'll look/go well once you worked your magic

thats it mate, couldnt put it better really.

i find the 8v a fun drive plus its lighter than a 16v lols and the rallye is all about weight well kinda.

want it to be a quickish car that looks subtle and give people a false impression.

Ya really

MR_N 22nd September 2009 21:42

LOL i do like the sound of a freshly tuned 8v lump. but i think the cost involved in nursing mine to full health and tuning it will outweigh the cost of dropping a valver in there

Raz 22nd September 2009 23:19

Im planning on tuning my 8v lump Lee as I am in the same boat as you...I dont want to be the same as everyone else, and its refreshing being different ;)

Hope the rebuild goes smoothly!

Toad 23rd September 2009 09:15

Lee, hide when you turn up at the meet. I will kick you in the nuts so hard if I hear you go on about 8 valves again. :rage:

So what if loads of people do it. It's done for a reason. Stop being so stubborn, and do what's right.

Better to happen now though rather than when the suns actually out and its warm and you want to go for a nice drive! :)

Good luck with the rebuild, plans sound good and im sure itl be quick just like the old 'R' ;)

johnnyg_vts 23rd September 2009 11:23

i understand you like your 8v but whats the point in spending shed loads on a 8v and then getting mullered at the lights by some dude in a vts with just an exhaust and filter with a combined cost of jack shit?

Your one of them guys who stands by the phrase 'it doesnt matter if you win by an inch or a mile, winning is winning'. Racing off the lights isnt everyones cup of tea Torreto
