R.I.P man :(

LeeM 20th February 2010 06:28

just read through this thread again, and im truly saddened by the realisation that ill never meet gav. after reading about how much of a nice guy he was, but obviously you dont really see this sort of thing until its too late.
if something is done as a mark of respect at fcs then ill come, i wasnt going to because i dont own a french car anymore, but now i feel like ive got a very good reason to go. even if theres nothin official it would be good for us all to sit down and have a drink together in memory of him.
also, it still angers me that his life was taken by someone else driving badly (i know ive said this previously in this thread) so please, any young guys who have recently started driving and try to show off, read this thread and think twice before driving like a dick.

RIP Mate.

my thoughts are with your friends and family.

Mr_P 20th February 2010 09:36

Was a tribute to him on the front page of the evening post yesterday. Such a shame.

Looking at the car, he never had a chance.

RIP Bud.

Mathias 20th February 2010 11:12

Really like the idea about parking up in positions and minutes silence!

Im sure this would be very fitting, thoughts really going to gavs father!!

Chr15 20th February 2010 11:16

Gav's Dad could lead in whatever Gav still owned? He had 2 or 3 cars iirc?

de51_Hodgey 20th February 2010 11:33

+1

love the idea of a minutes silence :y:

and also the welsh flags draped across our bonnets.

He has pulled this community closer together then it has ever been, brought the site back to what it was good at, sharing a common interest, new friends and above all a community that cares, tell me how many car forums you know that can off that.

Agree with you there Lee, Mike showed me some old FCS group shots with Gav in, Brought back some real good memories.

If it hasn't been mentioned, Maybe a toast in his honor at the night before at FCS?

RIP Gav.

Viper 20th February 2010 14:11

im sure many toasts will be made, and much toast eaten in his honour :y:

leeroybrown 20th February 2010 14:44

Yeah its touched my heart tbh how well people are pulling together, its what brought me here in the first place!

Will be many toasts thats for sure!

Am sure we could all get together at the hotel at FCS and I could say a few words, or anyone else who feels they wish could.

saxowebby 20th February 2010 17:48

the car looks a right mess.

he stood no chance

love the ideas:

welsh flag on bonnets
minutes silence on the start grid
gavs dad leading the lap in gavs car(s)

what about a R.I.P JAPMAN sticker in the sax-p font for the rear windows of the cars.
sell them for £1.50 or £2.00 each money made given to charity or something.
sure people wouldent say no.

mclarenmatt 20th February 2010 18:17

Im sure FCS would have no problem considering the circumstances.

Slammed_Posi_Vtr 20th February 2010 18:19

Is it just me that thinks driving a load of cars round a racetrack isnt the greatest thing to do when he's just died in a car accident? Suppose someone crashed or something, would be terrible!

not racing, driving round slowly.

its what he loved, cars and driving round tracks

so it suits it really well.

Fair enough!

leeroybrown 20th February 2010 19:27

A lap of honour doesn't mean flying around the track like total dicks mate.

One slow consistent speed is not hard to do

His 3 brothers from another as he used to say are coming to fcs, richard, matthew and jamie, along with his dad. It may still to raw for them to take part and may get more from it if they watch and that's for them to decided. However if they do decided on this we can sort it out who leads am sure
