How the hell can he plead not guilty, my god makes my blood boil. He should have done the honourable thing and taken responsibility like a man!

philliantkr 17th January 2011 10:13

He deserves life for what he did, all the people he has hurt

Dom 17th January 2011 16:02

With this case, I can comment that a lad from down the road from me stole a car and went joy riding many years ago, he crashed into a ditch and killed his friend who was the passenger.

He was sent down for 5 years, but was out after just 3 years iirc. Its alot worse charge with the theft of the car and D.B.D.D.

This guy would be looking at around the same unfortunately, courts are letting people get off lightly for stupidity.

Once again, R.I.P.

Jackman 17th January 2011 20:13

Thoughts are with Gav and his family over the next few days!

If I wasn't snowed under in work and could get the time off I would of liked to.

Saxotim 18th January 2011 12:25

Story in the star today. Page 23.

Thoughts with gavs family.

Jay_ 18th January 2011 12:38

Thoughts go out to the family of Gav. Rest In Peace Mate!

matt_vtr_15a 18th January 2011 12:49

It is a proper proper shame, and no matter what sentence the lad gets it will not be anywhere close to the justice Gavs family and friends deserve!!

The lad who is guilty is a scumbag imo whereas Gav was a top lad! I hope this does ruin his life to give him an incline to how badly he has ruined others!

He was a proper genuinely good lad, when I look at his facebook page it shows how many people loved the guy and miss him dearly!

He definately knew a lot of decent looking ladys to :y:

R.I.P mate

R.I.P mate

I couldn't agree more

Its just over a month to 1 year since this happen and it still feels like it was yesterday.

I was personally a good friend of Gav's and I know how its effected me over the last 11 months.

Its his Dad Jonathan and his best mate Matthew that I really fell sorry for.
Matthew is pretty much lost with out him, you only get one decent best mate in your lift and Matthew has lost his.

Over I will be glad once its all over, we can the finally lie Gavin to rest!

It is crazy thinking about it, I know exactly what you meant with the best mate scenario...

If I lost my best mate I would be lost, it would be like losing my brother!! Do everything with my mate and it just reminds you what a loss it is if you try and put yourself in their shoes :(

leeroybrown 18th January 2011 13:09

Am sure there is not a day goes by without thinking of him.

Anniversary is very soon I shall be making this trip annually to be with his other friends and family.

There are so many stories and accounts I have heard lately I find it hard to work out which one is true.

However upon my next journey to Wales, I do want to find out if the guy who lived in one houses to see if he did try and save Gav's life and if he was successful for round 10 mins or so.

Am sure the police estimated the impact speed of hitting the jeep was arounf 80-90 mph.

He had no chance

leeroybrown 18th January 2011 13:45

To add court case is now over 4 days not 3.

Nathan will be giving his evidence on Thursday.

Aly 19th January 2011 12:59

Thanks for that Lee an interesting read!
So a faulty shock absorber.

wadoryu 19th January 2011 13:02

i hope he get's done for death by dangerous driving not just careless

Chr15 19th January 2011 13:08

Accident investigator Peter Jennings said the Trooper was pushed 17 metres by the impact and would have reached a speed of 24 mph. For that to have occurred the Peugeot must have been travelling at about 40 mph despite braking.
and thats a lightweight car hitting a tank! i thought it had sunk in but small details like that, well i actually dont know what to say tbh.

Oc2 19th January 2011 13:09

"Answered no questions but gave a prepared statement"

Well thats clearly a bullshit statement, like blue peter, heres one i prepared earlier.

Faulty shock absorber fair enough, but the traffic officer's been examining crash scenes for years im sure and knows what he see's, its the drivers word of "only being over by 10" against a cop whos probably seen it all...

That was knew from the start, there is a list of issues, hence why the car had NO MOT and a vts/gti engine in it instead of a rallye one.

Investigating office of the crash scene has said they were travelling between 64 and 75mph... 50 mph my arse!

Sentence could be today or tomorrow.

Nathan still has to give his view on accounts.

First time I have ever seen his picture makes my blood boil it does!

CampDavid 19th January 2011 13:12

"a bad habit of never, ever wearing a seat belt."

Fucking Hell Gav.

I don't want to be the one to bring this up but can everyone please remember to wear a seatbelt. Not wearing one is plain madness.

It's also another thing that'll go against Nathan - it's the driver's responsibility to make sure everyone is belted up

leeroybrown 19th January 2011 13:20

Having said that, am sure this time CampD he was actually wearing a seatbelt

It's the drivers responsibility in most cases, but if the passenger is 14 or over it's the passengers responsibility. That said, it sounds like this kids story is being torn apart and it looks very likely he'll be done for dangerous driving regardless of that. It's a shame he can't take responsibility for his actions and the damage he's done, makes it more upsetting for those involved I feel.

I hope a satisfactory result is reached anyway and that justice is done.

Tringaling 19th January 2011 13:23

He wasnt stupid, i am certain he would wear a seatbelt!

Must be such a hard week for his family and close friends, thoughts are always here mate!

<3

matt_vtr_15a 19th January 2011 13:31

I do think Gav would have worn a seatbelt, I was the same never wore my seatbelt when driving myself but if ever somebody else was driving I would buckle up...Like said Gav wasn't stupid... besides I don't think it would of made any difference whether he had it on or not... he took all of the impact..

sickening that Nathan is so full of bullshit! Especially when friends and family are present!!

I hope it gives him nightmares for the rest of his life, I know it would me!!

Cheers for keeping us updated Leeroy!!

leeroybrown 19th January 2011 13:37

I will have more info when his best mate rings me tonight.

I do have other pictures of how bad the damage actually was.

Never really wanted to post then on here as I dont think its right, correct me if am wrong i can post them but hey are rather shocking.

I have also watched a video of the car at the police compound, seat belt or not, he wouldnt have saved with the amount of damage caused

CampDavid 19th January 2011 13:41

No point in posting the pictures Lee, it's not going to help anyone and it's a bit voyeuristic.

As you say, he probably was wearing a seat belt - he's not that daft surely.

Anyway - I don't see Nathan getting out of this. He'll go down for DbDD and it'll probably be a lengthy one for a lack of remorse.

leeroybrown 19th January 2011 13:44

They aint for public viewing to be honest. They show the extent of how bad the impact was, I dont think anyone wants to remember him by those pictures.

Least from the court room is that Nathan is digging himself a bigger and bigger hole!

rob_s 19th January 2011 17:29

Cheers for updates lee! Been following this all year since the accident happened! And let's hope justice is soon to be done, looks like people have/are seeing through his b/s story of events anyway!

Viper 19th January 2011 17:54

The guy denies driving dangerously but he mentions driving over speed bumps before the car slid. Why the fuck would you be doing 70 over speed bumps?!

Dolly 19th January 2011 20:07

Didn't know the lad but sounds a really decent guy, its always the nice ones in these situations.
Its such a cruel world we live in!

Such a horrible thing to happen and read about. Noone deserves it.
Hope the driver gets the full punishment, hes taken a young guys life and now has to live the rest of his life remembering what hes done.
Surely that should make him realise how much of a dangerous driver he is. Who goes 60mph over speedbumbs?
Why can't he just admit to causing death by driving dangerously, when all the evidence is there!
I hope he never drives again.

Rest in peace Gav! X
