Whats the cost on all this for you then? Looking at a 100bhp+ 1.1 im in on this!
100bhp on a 1.1 thats awsome lol. how much is a standard 1.1. desire???
60bhp mate. Bearing in mind it wont have the torque of a 1.6 but still its gooodd.
sound. still what has he done to get it up to 100 bhp ?
Post 40... read the thread mate.
oh yer soz m8 must of missed that 1 out
for the money you would spend doing that I can honestly say a basic turbo setup can be done for the same cost. By basic I mean everthing to need no fancy gimics
can you get a turbo for a 1.1? how much are they? wouldnt that just fuck up the engine?
All depends on money and what your willing to spend lad,
basics are a descent exhaust system - 4-2-1 manifold, decat, straight through. induction - either a cheap k+n or pipercross but if you want to spend a little go for a enclosed induction kit;) eg BMC, that will free up some power, but you can go mad, cams, TB etc but really at the end of the day it will still be a 1.1, if i was you just go for the simple mods and save for a new car/engine. |

So far, the cams are looking to be around £180, the induction is £100-£150, head work is going to be £200, injectors you can get from the scrappy for piss-all (I got mine free), VTR inlet & throttle body cost me £20, and then the remap from Red Dot is £199 at a group buy day. Still a damn sight less than £1750, and probably much easier to maintain... in my opinion at least. I suppose if you're an expert- which you probably are- turbo maintenance comes easy, but this stuff doesn't require much looking after. Before anyone says, "Why a 1.1?", the simple answer is "Why not?" It's a nice light engine, hasn't got much inertia, and it's a lovely unit actually. I'm happy with the gains so far. |
kit may for sale for that but anyone that knows what have done will know the original setup all mapped with all parts came to less than £900 with alot better results.
So yours has cost £750 so far based on the above not including headgasket parts which is what another 50-80? which after all the faffing about is the same as it would cost for an adapter manifold setup. So lets do a break down of a fully proper working turbo setup: Adapter for oe manifold and downpipe £175 T25 turbo or a GT15 £50 - £100 boost pipes £80 (new with hoses) intercooler £100 repair headgasket set inc bolts £100 (thicker hg being repair, lower compression enough to run low boost) Dump valve, boost gauge and dump valve t-piece £60 - 80 4 bigger injectors £30 (max) dastek unichip inc boost map sensor controller (£100 off ebay) 2bar map sensor £30 remap on the dastek £250 (at aldon automotive) oil feed and return £20 sump return £10 so thats the basics all had for less than £1100 at todays prices all mapped and ready to go low boost. Running a turbo is requires no less maintanence than a highly strung n.a motor, regular oil changes and not hammering the shite out of it and it will be reliable. Just don't expect it to be if you drive like an utter cock all over the place. Tell you what by the end of show season I will have another 1.1 turbo running and again on a budget |
What power does a 1.1T run at?
What's lag like? The only time I drive fast is when pulling out of junctions, up sliproads and at track days... apart from that, speed limits ftw. :y: If you make a thread showing your progress I'd like you to keep me informed, always up for a new project, but have chosen N/A for the moment... |
My old one ran at 139bhp on the first mapping session, there is no lag! turbo is so small and suits the low 6250 rev limit perfectly!
I have 2 progress threads which have been going for morn than 1 year on the orignal one! been there done that on my 2nd or 3rd improved setup now! pretty well known on this forum aswell over the last 18months |
You'll have to forgive me, I'm still quite new to this particular forum... :P
I'll be having a poke around that, ideally want a trio of 1.1 206s each running a certain setup... supercharged, turbocharged and N/A... |
so if i get a vtr throttle body and inlet i have to get it remaped? cause otherwise it will overfuel?
Any news on the cams? and where did you get the induction kit from? Is there a link?

Do not, under any circumstances, fit all the stuff and then tootle somewhere to get it remapped. It will work, but very badly. Make sure it's remapped by people who know what they're doing, as soon as you've fitted the stuff. Check the inlet manifold for leaks as well- once it's all done up good and proper, turn the engine over and hold your hand over the throttle body. If it stalls, then you're good. If not, you've got a leak. muhuha- http://www.gsr-uk.co.uk/ for the induction kit. Ask Peter if he's prepared to make one. They are well worth the money... as said before I've gone from 62-63bhp standard to 74bhp currently, and 78bhp whenever I have the bigger injectors in. The cams are apparently 'under development'. |
o kl cheers mate ill have to do tht but ill give it a while i gotta fix my clutch first lol
They should be done 'within three weeks' :y:
so evolution 4589... could u do another run down of ur parts... and their costs, and the labour costs? and do u have final bhp figures yet?
