Glad you were pleased with the lowering results mate :y: It was really nice and easy, always fear the worst with older cars but so far theyve proved to be more kind to us strangely :)

Bet you cant wait to get the VT kit on now

Kenco 21st April 2009 23:35

As requested a picture from the side

as i said, im not keen on how flat arches look lowered, doesnt look quite right, which means i cant wait to get the vt kit on!

Sneakydevil89 22nd April 2009 08:05

and as i said, that colour coded boot popper looks cool.

Kenco 23rd April 2009 20:12

Kenco 24th April 2009 19:15

Well i started the VT kit this afternoon!
i have never been so stressed over something in my entire life
an absolute ball ache but i am looking forward to the final results
how its looking atm..

Sneakydevil89 25th April 2009 09:36

have you stuck on that front arch properly? looks a bit loose at the bottom?
is gunna loko sweet when its on though :P i love driving around in a VT kitted car, you instantly get more looks (helps if your car looks like a badger/panda as well lol)

Kenco 25th April 2009 09:44

haha nah i havent stuck the front arch on yet, just clipped in so i get an idea of how it will look bud!
im happy so far, however much of a pain in the arse it is!

willsy 25th April 2009 09:59

Best of luck with the progress today mate, i hope the weather is much better where you are than it is here

Had a look at the arch pic that you sent too.

So the arch bit and the flat bit go in place ok, but the bit in the middle where it changes direction seems a bit out of shape and wont hold itself in place?

Does it push in to position ok still when you hold it in place and then move back outwards when you move away?

2 options really: a new panel thats still in perfect shape (blue one shouldnt be tricky to find) or you could park the side of the car by a wall if theres somewhere handy. Put some of the sealant behind that point, then place a cloth on the panel so the paintwork doesnt get marked and then with a length of wood prop it between the panel and the wall so that it pushes the panel firmly against the car whilst the sealant sets.

After that especially if youre using tiger seal or something similar it should stick solidly in place.

Kenco 25th April 2009 10:10

Nah it doesn't push into place as it starts to crack, as someone has grinded away the concaved bit of the arch itself
i think i will just get a new rear arch, can't cost that much!

AlexB 25th April 2009 10:17

saw this beifly in flatarch form just after lowering (you wont have seen me i was in an astra twintop) it looked pretty smart man
with vt kit on shoudl be nice man

Oh right bloody ell.

Yeah id find a new bit of kit then, the blue is relatively common should be able to pick one up for £20 in good condition :y:

Ill keep an eye out for any that are for sale for you

Mint-VTR 25th April 2009 12:45

looking nice, keep the pics coming..

Kenco 25th April 2009 19:37

well, the vt kit is pretty much all on, side skirts tomorow and the finishing touches followed by a good clean to remove all the adhesive that decided to go everywhere :panic:
two months ago my car was looking like this...

now more along the lines of this...

really happy so far with the vt kit, other than the odd panel not being flush with the shell... just hope everything else goes to plan.
