c'mon how can you forget one of the best lyracist Big Pun. Only thing that stopped him was his bloody heavy weight frame and have to suck in air like a jumbo jet when he started spittin.

Jadakiss
Rakim Allah ... of Eric B & Rakim
AZ ... He was more of a Influence on Nas than Nas Was on him
Ghostface Killa
Kool G Rap
Prodigy of Mobb Deep ... but only from 95 to 99
GZA
Big Daddy Kane
Scarface ... Minds playin tricks on me
Royce da 5'9"

I honestly could go on and one

a man who knows his 90s hiphop ;).. Big pun, last emporer, ghostface (older stuff) i think youve named most of the big ones tbh,

as for the UK grime scene, kano, from pre-2007 (although his latest commercial stuff is still good)

grime died in 2006.. so anything before than was decent, 2005 is when the downfall began

alextoffie 14th April 2009 01:27

This could turn out to be quite a lengthy list, but i love rap/hip hop so listen to loads of artists, here goes -

DMX
Eminem
Jay-Z
Tupac
Common
Rakim
Jedi Mind Tricks
Jadakiss

In the UK i like Dizzee Rascal and Kano...

Nas, Big Daddy Kane, KRS-One, Talib Kweli, Snoop Dogg (Doggystyle - classic), Biggie etc... all deserve a mention

Calyx 14th April 2009 18:40

Akala, The Game smashes 50 all day, Jay Z, Trae, Paul Wall, T.I's Mixtapes are legendary, Jeezy speaks his mind a lot of the time and not just shite.

There just a few tbh. Weezy is soooo far mainstream he's shitting his own songs! Kanye is admittedly good but he's too pompous for me to like.

Without a doubt that was my music when i was growing up. It all started with Public Enemy, thank god for the olden days of MTV with YO ! MTV Raps.

I'll be honest and say i can't choose in the poll because... I can't choose between Tupac or B.I.G

50 Cent ... Got rich and stopped tryin
Lil Wayne ... Isn't the best rapper he's just flavour of the month, so was Cash Money Records in the late 98
Eminem ... Isn't a serious lyracist but is a damn good battling MC
Dizzee Rascal ... First album showed a glimer of talent then went mainstream

Wouldnt say that, a lot of his old stuffs pretty legendary imo. Then he started making stupid mockery tunes :wall:

The rest is so true though, 50s pathetic now

stevie_m 14th April 2009 20:19

compare Big Pun who was a lyracist against Eminem ... who is better ?

twoingoo1inpoo 14th April 2009 20:22

lil wayne is big in the game atg the moment,

liking roll deeps new album,

Trouble dont mean a thing. when youre moveing in circles............ that roll deep.

Grant 14th April 2009 21:29

Imo lil wayne is diabolical.

Cash money was alright before Birdman screwed everyone over, I didnt really listen to the lyrics though, just because everything was usually produced by Mannie Fresh.

Rappers- No order.. Trae, T.I, Talib Kweli, BoHagon, KRS-One, Ice Cube & Nas.

Producers - Lil Jon, Mannie Fresh, Maestro, Swizz Beatz, Ryan Leslie, Pete Rock, DJ Premier, Danja, The Runners.

If i see a track produced by any of them, ill check it out no matter who the artists is.

Hype Artists - Lil Jon, Swizz Beatz

stevie_m 14th April 2009 21:43

don't you prefer Talib Kweli earlier stuff with DJ Hi-Tek ?

I can say i'm glad they have started doing the Reflection Eternal reunion album
